AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING THE BID OF NATIONAL UTILITY
PRODUCTS COMPANY FOR SALE TO THE CITY OF ADJUSTABLE MANHOLE
RINGS IN THE AMOUNT OF $19,220, AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO
EXECUTE A CONTRACT FOR SUCH PURCHASE
WHEREAS, sealed bids were requested pursuant with
p
City of Paducah Procurement Code, and no bids were received;
and
WHEREAS, National Utility Products Company (NUPCO)
has been the sole bidder in excess of ten years who meets or
exceeds the City's specifications; and
WHEREAS, NUPCO has continually complied with the
City's procurement procedures, including delivery dates, and
has stated they can continue to comply and meet all required
specifications, including required product delivery within
two weeks; and
WHEREAS, a delay in entering into a contract for
manhole rings will delay the 1996-97 street resurfacing
program scheduled to begin in early September, 1996, thus
delaying this program until the spring of 1997; and
WHEREAS, the bid submitted by NUPCO this year is
for $124 per adjustable manhole ring, as opposed to last
year's bid of $127 per ring, which will result in a
substantial savings to the City.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. The City of Paducah accepts the bid of
National Utility Products Company in the amount of $19,220
for the purchase of adjustable manhole rings to be used for
street paving program, said bid being in substantial com-
pliance with the bid specifications and advertisement for
bids, and as contained in the bid of National Utility
Products Company of August 14, 1996.
SECTION 2. The Mayor is hereby authorized to
execute a contract with National Utility Products Company
for sale to the City of adjustable manhole rings authorized
in Section 1 above, according to the specifications, bid
proposal and all contract documents heretofore approved and
incorporated in the bid.
SECTION 3. This expenditure shall be charged to
MAP Account No. 003-2217-531-3919.
SECTION 4. In order to complete this project
before the onset of inclement weather, an emergency is
hereby declared to exist and this ordinance shall become
effective immediately with one reading.
SECTION 5.
This ordinance shall be published
pursuant to KRS Chapter 424.
