School Presentation (Commissioner Yates) – There will be no update on this until at least March 2026. Commissioner Yates contacted Paducah Tilghman High School re: the PHRC speaking to students. The school will follow up with Commissioner Yates in 2026. Fair Housing Event (Commissioner Gurley) – 2/12/26 update - Commissioner Yates agreed to reach out to the Board of Realtors to see if they would like to speak at the event. Commissioner Robinson stated that she would be glad to contribute to the event through her place of employment, LivWell. Commissioner Burton stated that she would also be willing to contribute through Paducah Housing Authority of Paducah. This event will be April 16, 2026, at Robert Cherry Civic Center. Commissioner Gurley will get food quotes. Discussed having last year’s speaker again (Lacey) to update any changes from 2025. Proposed that guest speakers should also include someone from Board of Realtors. Daisha Johnson will ask Carol with City Planning and Development to be a guest speaker. Paducah Pride Event (Commissioner Lovelace) – Paducah Pride Event is June 6, 2026, at Paducah Convention Center. The Commission discussed presenting a slide show at the event – no vote on this yet. Chair Commissioner Dawson reached out to J.W. Cleary to set up a meeting to discuss. She was informed that the Juneteenth committee would reconvene in November/December 2025 to start discussing 2026 Juneteenth. Chair Commissioner Dawson has committed to attending that meeting if granted the opportunity from committee members. Luncheon – The original date for this event, January 24, 2026, was cancelled due to weather conditions. A new date of March 14, 2026, was discussed. Motion to approve by Commissioner Gurley with a 2nd approval by Commissioner Lovelace. Commissioner Yates agreed to reach out to Sally Michelson (Community Kitchen) to get permission to place an event flyer at the Community Kitchen. PHRC should arrive at Christ Temple Church Annex by 10:30 a.m. to prepare to-go plates and set up. It was agreed that we would set up a table with PHRC material during the event. Commissioner Walton reached out to Big Ed’s Restaurant for a food quote and agreed to share it with the Commission. He stated that the quote was approximately $800.00. Budget Report – The PHRC has a budget of $13,586.37 until June 30, 2026. Update on this as of 2/13/2026 – Commissioner Yates agreed to follow up to request updated logo info again via email – The PHRC marketing material has been updated. Daisha Johnson, Human Relations Coordinator, stated that she would forward updated material to the Commission via email. Commissioners discussed the need for a new informational pamphlet. It was agreed that we would take a new group photo at the meeting to go on the pamphlet. There has been no vote on supplier or layout of pamphlet yet. Meeting was adjourned at 5:28 p.m. with approval by Commissioner Gurley, a second approval by Commissioner Yates and unanimously approved.
