School Presentation (Commissioner Yates) – 3/12/25 Reached back out to the school and asked if there were any teachers interested in the Commissioners coming to speak to their students. Awaiting response. Fair Housing Event (Commissioner Gurley) – 3/12/26 - Commissioner Yates reached out to the Paducah Board of Realtors and asked if they would be interested in sending a representative to speak at the Fair Housing Luncheon. Awaiting response. Commissioner Gurley received quotes from Artisan Kitchen and Fresh Foodies. Board voted for Artisan Kitchen. It was discussed that Palmer Stroup from the City of Paducah would be a speaker. Lacey Boling has been confirmed as a speaker. Commissioner Robinson will get quotes for renting tablecloths for this event. Board agreed that members would decorate since we already have a banner and event décor. Paducah Pride Event (Commissioner Lovelace) – Paducah Pride Event is June 6, 2026, at Paducah Convention Center. The Commission discussed presenting a slide show at the event – Commissioner Lovelace agreed to reach out to the event coordinators to get a vendor spot and playing our Human Rights video four times during the event for a cost of $500.00. Chair Commissioner Dawson reached out to J.W. Cleary to set up a meeting to discuss. She was informed that the Juneteenth committee would reconvene in November/December 2025 to start discussing 2026 Juneteenth. Chair Commissioner Dawson has committed to attending that meeting if granted the opportunity from committee members. Luncheon (Commissioner Walton) – 3/12/26 – All flyers distributed. The original date for this event, January 24, 2026, was cancelled due to weather conditions. A new date of March 14, 2026, was discussed. Motion to approve by Commissioner Gurley with a 2nd approval by Commissioner Lovelace. Commissioner Yates agreed to reach out to Sally Michelson (Community Kitchen) to get permission to place an event flyer at the Community Kitchen. PHRC should arrive at Christ Temple Church Annex by 10:30 a.m. to prepare to-go plates and set up. It was agreed that we would set up a table with PHRC material during the event. Commissioner Walton reached out to Big Ed’s Restaurant for a food quote and agreed to share it with the Commission. He stated that the quote was approximately $800.00. Budget Report – The PHRC has a budget of $13,543.87 until June 30, 2026. Group photo taken for pamphlet - Commissioners discussed the need for a new informational pamphlet. There has been no vote on supplier or layout of pamphlet yet. Commissioner Burton suggested that there be a digital inventory of the PHRC education material/items so that the Board can keep track of what they have available. The Board discussed storage/access to these materials. The Board discussed purchasing new items to distribute at community events. Items to purchase will be discussed/voted on at the next meeting. Meeting was adjourned at 5:44 p.m. with approval by Commissioner Lovelace, a second approval by Commissioner Walton and unanimously approved.
