MEETING DETAILS The Civic Beautification Board members met on Monday, April 141, 2025, at 12:00pm. The meetingwas held at City Hall, 300 S. 5th St, Paducah, KY42003. 11. ATTENDEES In attendance were Kathy Montgomery (Chairman), Staci Drake (Co -Chairman), Mary Dossett (Secretary), Ronna Ward (Treasurer), Jill Durham (HOM), Karen Patter (New Member), Tim Story, Misty Freeman, Mark Anderson, Colleen Stovesand, Kay Cochran, Kathy McHaney, Paul Grumley, Michele Murphy, Denny Roof, Storm Wilson, and Pam Spencer (City Rep). Board members not in attendance were Fowler Black (Tourism), Wayne Armbruster, and Leslie Haywood -Moore. III. CALLTOORDER Kathy called the meeting to order at 12:05pm at City Hall with the pledge of allegiance and reminded members to silence their phones. She welcomed new members Storm Wilson and Kathy McHaney. She also mentioned if you have not grabbed your CBB t - shin, make sure to do so before you leave today. Lastly, thankyou for all your help with the Dogwood Trail. The March minutes were presented and approved. Treasurer: Ronna reported our balance is currently $3,957.79. We made $216.00 from the Dogwood Trail Celebration (tickets for the trolley, dogwood pins, and cards). The board was all in favor for $50.00 being the amount for the dogwood awards. Secretary: Minutes were sent via email to members. Mary asked if anyone has any edits that need to be made in the minutes. She mentioned thatwe do still need a corresponding secretary while she is away on Maternity Leave this Summer. She will try and join the meetings via Zoom if necessary. Corres on nding Secretary:Kathy asked the members tobethinking about who would make a good corresponding secretary. Thankyou notes need to go out. She went into detail about who all needs a thank you note. Several members mentioned others that needed to be added to the list. IV. OLD BUSINESS Membership -Nominating; Karen mentioned she may ask Janie Smith about joining the board. Kathy said four members do have terms expiring on July 1, 2025. She will contact those members personalty to see if they want to stay on the board. House of the Month: Staci presented the winners of home of the month. The owners are Kenny & Bonnie Martin. The house is located at 1744 Jefferson Street. A photo of the home was passed around. Staci mentioned that the business awards are usually in November but to keep an eye out for businesses that are improvingthe exterior of their buildings. Paul mentioned Jetton Schoolhouse. Kathy said that may be a good place to plant some dogwoods since they have a nice understory of trees. Karen said Four Seasons Garden Club oversees that area, so maybe we could partner with them. Jetton is located at 401 Walter Jetton Blvd. Storm brought up Hernandez Painting as another business to maybe recognize. They are located at 1643 Broadway Street. Dogwood Trees; Tim said dogwoods in the area are looking good. He noticed some have not bloomed yet. The trees on Sycamore are looking good but some have died which is not a surprise. The trees recently planted at Keiler Park around the memorial bench also took good. Children's Memorial Gardem The garden is in Noble Park. Wayne has recently taken a soil sample at the garden, and it has been sent to the McCracken County Extension Service fortesting. Will update with report once it comes in. Wayne has since planted a couple more dogwood seedlings in the area. Kathy mentioned having the next meeting at the memorial garden if weather atlows. All of the members were in favor. Dogwood Trail Awards: The banquet wilt be May 13' at City Halt. Ronna has ordered more Dogwood cookies and lemonade will be served as weft. Social Media: Misty gave updates for both Facebook pages. Dogwood Trait: 20,559 new views, 1.2K new engagements, 159 new followers, and a total of 1.5K followers. Civic Beautification Board: 14,209 new views, 590 new engagements,38 new followers, and a total of 679 followers. No report Whiteha�en - Playground: Markwill talkwith the community college (WKOTO) to ase if there is any land avallaWe to have a playground on. Kathy McHaney mentioned sheworks for the community college and can help with that process. Several playground ideas were brought up. Welcome to Paducah i n : Kathywill meet with Michele after the meeting about planting around the signs in the fall. Since there has been no word from Rob, Kathy said she wilt move to plan B. Kathy asked for each member on the board to text her on how we can improve next year, what went well, what needs more explanation, etc. Please text Kathy by next Monday. Kathy mentioned all the notes and plans wilt be kept in a notebook to help with the Dogwood Trail in the future. Several members mentioned seeing a man on Buckner and Pecan picking up trash. Misty asked members to be on the lookout for him and let her know if they catch his name. Staci mentioned Mr. & Mrs. Orzine. They are very involved in the community and read to seniors at assisted living centers. lknwnl�1*1410 V. NEW BUSINESS Oven Discussion: Paul asked about the Dogwood Trail signs and what needsto be done since the trait has officially ended. Several members offered to help Paulwith this task. There was discussion on the certificates. VI. ADJOURNMENT Move to adjourn was made by Kathy at 12:58pm. Next meetingwill be May 12`b, 2025 at Children's Memorial Garden if weather allows.
