Minutes Monthly Board Meeting Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at 8:00am
Present Board Members- David Troutman, John Durbin, Maggie Moore, Cindy Mangrum, Robert Hernandez, Lydia May, Karami Underwood, Robert Hernandez.
Staff Present- Sarah Walker, Executive Director. Robin Ross, Assistant Director.
Absent Board Members- Carol Young, Simone Fearon, Herb Gregory.
Call to Order: David Troutman called the meeting to order at 8:09 am.
Minutes from Last Month: Karami Underwood made a motion to approve the June minutes. Lydia May second. The motion passed. Thank you, Cindy, for keeping minutes last month!
Committee Reports:
Finance Committee: John Durbin presented financial reports to the board. John needs the last month’s minutes signed to allow his access into the accounts. David took care of this. See
John’s attached reports.
Nominating Committee: No report this month.
Personnel Committee: No report this month.
Bylaws and Policies Committee: The Employee Handbook for new hires has been reviewed by Robin and Sarah and looks much better. Cindy made a motion to approve the updated Employee Handbook.
Karami Underwood second. The motion passed.
Director’s Report: See attachment presented by Sarah Walker.
Assistant Director’s Report: No report this month.
Old Business
Building Update: David read an email from the architect. It appears we are closer to presenting finished plans to the city for approval.
Fundraising: Thank you Sarah for all your work on potential grants. David followed up with a connection to confirm a very generous gift. Thank you, David, for your work on this.
New Business
September is National Senior Center Month. Sarah is using the month to educate the community and have some fun events.
PATS bus changes: The new director of PATS is changing the rates on the bus that we use for various trips and it is no longer accessible for our use. Sarah was able to locate an available
van for purchase. The board discussed this opportunity and agreed it would be a great investment for the Senior Center to use for trips. Robert Hernandez made a motion to approve purchasing
a 12 passenger van, John Durbin Second. The motion passed. Thank you, Sarah, for bringing this opportunity to the board’s attention.

Cindy Mangrum made a motion to adjourn at 9:09 am, Robert Hernandez second. The motion passed.
