HomeMy WebLinkAboutMO #3185MUNICIPAL ORDER NO. 3185 A MUNICIPAL ORDER AUTHORIZING THE APPLICATION AND ACCEPTANCE OF A U.S. ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY COMMUNITY -WIDE BROWNFIELD ASSESSMENT GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $500,000 TO CONTINUE WITH ASSESSMENTS AND REDEVELOPMENT PLANNING, WITH EMPHASIS ON CITY - OWNED PROPERTIES AND ACQUISITIONS OF NEW PROPERTIES WHEREAS, in August 2022, the City of Paducah was awarded a Brownfield Assessment Grant in the amount of $500,000, for a four-year period. Multiple Phase 1 and Phase 2 assessments were completed, included the Katterjohn Building, Columbia Theater and multiple lots in the Southside neighborhoods. This initial grant project was completed a year early; and WHEREAS, in order to build upon the success of the first award, the City will be applying for a new Brownfield Assessment Grant to continue with assessments and redevelopment planning, with an emphasis on City -owned properties and acquisitions of new properties. KENTUCKY: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDERED BY THE CITY OF PADUCAH, SECTION 1. The City of Paducah hereby authorizes the application and acceptance of a Brownfields Assessment Grant through the United States Environmental Protection Agency in the amount of $500,000 to continue with assessments and redevelopment planning, with an emphasis on City -owned properties and acquisitions of new properties. There is no local match required. SECTION 2. This order will be in full force and effect f and after the date of its adoption.
