Greg Cherry, Deputy Chief/Fire Marshal gcherry@paducahky.gov/270-444-8522 CODE ENFORCEMENT BOARD MEETING MINUTES AUGUST 19, 2024 The Code Enforcement Board Meeting was held on Monday, August 19, 2024 at 4:00 p.m. in City Hall. In attendance were Tara Sawvel, Matt Turley, John Spurlin, Jewel Jones, Richie Davis, Tanashea Bell, Josh Sommer – Planning Dept., Kristen Krueger, David Jones, Steve Utz, and Janet Dicke. Absent: Katrina Miller – 750 Main Street and Alvin Wesson – 1647 Jefferson Street The meeting was called to Order by John Spurlin and seconded by Jewel Jones. The minutes for March 18th, 2024 were read and approved. Motion made by Matt Turley and seconded by Tara Sawvel. Motion carried. New Board member Jewel Jones sworn in. Previous Chairperson Carol Gault resigned. Board members nominated Matt Turley as the new Chairman. Motion made by John Spurlin and Seconded by Jewel Jones. Motion carried. Code Enforcement Officer Steve Utz provided metrics from January thru July 2024 for 311 system – complaints and routine inspections code enforcement (high weeds and grass) and property maintenance (buildings). Properties Discussed: 1. 750 Main St. – Katrina Miller No property owner appeared. This property is in violation. Fine upheld $130.00. A violation notice will be sent giving her 10 days to abate the violation. On August 30, 2024 the Code Enforcement Officer will go and verify the property has been abated, if not a contractor will be sent to abate the property. Motion made by John Spurlin and seconded by Tara Sawvel. Motion carried. 2. 615 Campbell St.- Richie Davis Property owner appeared to speak. Mr. Davis gave the Board an update on his property. He is waiting on Department of Manufacturing Housing to apply for permits to make repairs on his mobile home and then the State will follow-up with inspections. Once the inspections from the State have passed then B1/B2 sticker will be issued for occupancy. If there is any progress from the State Mr. Davis will come before the Board at the next meeting. No action taken. Page 2 3. 1040 Flournoy St. - Tanashea Bell This property was pulled. The Board will hear this case at a later date. No action was taken. Property owner elected to speak to discuss her plans for this building. 4. 1647 Jefferson St. – Alvin Wesson No property owner appeared. The Board agreed this property is still in violation. The fine of $280.00 is upheld. If no action on the property the next fine will be $380.00. The permit that was obtained 09/12/2023 has expired. To begin work on the structure a new building/electrical permit will need to be obtained. All fines must be paid. Motion made by John Spurlin and seconded by Tara Sawvel. Motion carried. Matt Turley made the motion to adjourn. John Spurlin seconded. Motion carried. Board Adjourned.
