MEETING DETAILS
The Civic Beautification Board members met on Monday, June 9th , 2025, at 12:00pm. The meeting was held at City Hall, 300 S. 5th St, Paducah, KY 42003.
ATTENDEES
In attendance were Kathy Montgomery (Chairman), Staci Drake (Co-Chairman), Mary Dossett (Secretary), Ronna Ward (Treasurer), Jill Durham (HOM), Karen Petter (New Member), Tim Story,
Misty Freeman, Mark Anderson, Colleen Stovesand, Kay Cochran, Kathy McHaney, Paul Grumley, Michele Murphy, Denny Roof, Storm Wilson, and Pam Spencer (City Rep). Board members not in
attendance were Fowler Black (Tourism), Wayne Armbruster, and Leslie Haywood-Moore.
CALL TO ORDER
Kathy called the meeting to order at 12:05pm at City Hall with the pledge of allegiance and reminded members to silence their phones.
The May minutes were presented and approved.
Treasurer: Ronna reported our balance is currently $ .
Secretary: Minutes were sent via email to members. Kathy mentioned that we do still need a corresponding secretary while Mary is away on Maternity Leave this Summer. She is joining the
meeting via phone today.
Corresponding Secretary: Kathy asked the members to be thinking about who would make a good corresponding secretary.

Business Award:
Dogwood Trees:
Tim said the dogwoods are hanging on. The extreme heat and large amount of rainfall can make it harder on the dogwoods. He said he will keep an eye on them. The trees along Jefferson
Street look good. The city is doing an excellent job taking care of them.
Children’s Memorial Garden:
The garden is in Noble Park. Wayne took a soil sample to the Extension Office. He read the results to the members. There was a discussion among the members about the dogwood trees.
Dogwood Trail Awards:
The Reception was held May 13th at City Hall prior to the Commission Meeting.
Social Media:
Misty gave updates for both Facebook pages.
Paducah Alliance of Neighborhoods (PAN):
No report
Whitehaven - Playground:
Mark has talked with the maintenance man at White Haven. They are still working on the details. Pam informed them of a couple contacts with the city that may be helpful. Karen told
the members about the beautiful monarch waystation at Whitehaven. Paducah Garden Club is who maintains the garden.
Welcome to Paducah Signs:
Kathy met with Michele Smolen, Assistant City Manager, after the last meeting about planting around the signs in the fall.
Dogwood Trail Committees:
Kathy asked for each member on the board to text her on how we can improve next year, what went well, what needs more explanation, etc..
DWT Notebook:
Kathy mentioned all the notes and plans will be kept in a notebook to help with the Dogwood Trail in the future.

NEW BUSINESS
Open Discussion:
Kathy told members to start thinking about what positions on the board they would like to sign up for.
ADJOURNMENT
Move to adjourn was made by Kathy at 12:58pm. Next meeting will be July 14th , 2025 at City Hall.
