A MUNICIPAL ORDER AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE
ALL DOCUMENTS NECESSARY TO RECEIVE GRANT FUNDS
THROUGH THE MELLON FOUNDATION HUMANITIES IN PLACE
GRANT PROGRAM IN THE AMOUNT OF $1,340,000 FOR CAPITAL
IMPROVEMENTS TO THE HOTEL METROPOLITAN AND PURPLE
ROOM AND TO BUILD THE CAPACITY OF THEIR BOARD AND
ORGANIZATION
WHEREAS, on April 23, 2024, he Board of Commissioners approved Municipal
Order No. 2886, which authorized the submission of a Mellon Foundation Humanities in Place
Grant, which has now been awarded to the City of Paducah; and
WHEREAS, the City has been notified of a total award of $1,340,000 which
requires no local match; however, the City pledged an amount of $250,000 in FY25, and
subsequent amounts in the amount of $250,000 per year for FY26 and FY27, contingent upon
approval through the annual budgeting process. This funding is also contingent upon approval of
a Co -Stewardship Agreement between the City of Paducah and the Uppertown Heritage
Foundation; and
KENTUCKY:
WHEREAS, the City of Paducah now wishes to accept all awarded grant funds.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDERED BY THE CITY OF PADUCAH,
SECTION 1. That the City of Paducah hereby accepts grant funds in the amount
of $1,340,000 through the Mellon Foundation Humanities in Place Grant, for capital
improvements to the Hotel Metropolitan and Purple Room and to build the capacity of their
board and organization.
SECTION 2. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to execute the grant agreement
and all documents related to same, as authorized in Section 1, above.
SECTION 3. There is no local match required; however, the City pledged an
amount of $250,000 in FY25, and subsequent amounts in the amount of $250,000 per year for
FY26 and FY27, contingent upon approval through the annual budgeting process. This funding
is also contingent upon approval of a Co -Stewardship Agreement between the City of Paducah
and the Uppertown Heritage Foundation, and shall be paid through the Investment Fund.
SECTION 4. This order shall be in full for"ffectd afterthe date of
its adoption.
