MINUTES OF BROOKS STADIUM COMMISSION MEETING 10-11-18
The Brooks Stadium Commission met the Stadium on 10-11-18. Commission
members present were: President Frank Hideg; Treasurer Neel Carroll; Secretary
Bill Pinkston; MarkThompson; Richard Abraham; Lenora Brooks; Howard Finley;
and Chip Cox.
An invocation was offered by Mr. Abraham. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by
Ms. Brooks. Reading of the minutes of the last commission meeting were waived.
A financial report prepared by Treasurer Carroll was accepted. Mr. Carroll
reported that the Commission had 588,800 in its bank account. A "Profit and Loss
by Class" statement presented by Mr. Carroll is attached to these Minutes.
President Hideg presented the tentative spring, 2019, playing schedule at the
Stadium: PTHS will hold scrimmages on March 9,20tg and March L6, 20t9.
Opening Day will be March 18. The Southern lllinois Miners will play the
Evansville Otters on May 4, 2019. The date for the annual Murray State University
game is still to be determined.
President Hideg reported on the following items:
The City of Paducah "Board Survey" respecting the Stadium had been completed,
approved and presented to the Mayor of Paducah.
Field and stadium maintenance was to be completed by 10-31-18.
The "Diamond Deck" had been painted and the handicap ramp had been
sta bilized.
lnside and outside walls of the Stadium had been painted.
Research continued respecting options for protective netting at the Diamond
Deck.
The City of Paducah requested that the Stadium host five Youth Travel Baseball
tournaments. Two such tournaments had been prepared through this date and
others will be scheduled for August and September 20t9.
President Hideg provided a brief description of operations for the Paducah Chiefs
in 2019, including the adoption of playing schedules, player recruitment efforts,
bat and ball sponsors and merchandise sales.
Ms. Brooks suggested that a "Bark in the Park" night be conducted at one of the
Chiefs'games in 2019.
There being no further business, on motion made and seconded, the meeting was
adjourned.
