HomeMy WebLinkAbout9-28-15 Brooks Stadium Commission Meeting Minutes192165 MINUTES OF BROOKS STADIUM COMMISSION MEETING September 28, 2015 The regular meeting of the Brooks Stadium Commission was conducted at Noon on Monday, September 28, 2015, at the offices of the Paducah Parks and Recreation. Commissioners in attendance were Frank Hideg, Neel Canoll, Leo Green, Bill Pinkston, Greg McKeel, Howard Finley, Lenore Goode, and Mark Thompson. President Hide galled the meeting to order. An invocation was given by Leo Green. Lenore Goode led the Commission in the Pledge of Allegiance. Minutes of the last meeting of the Board of Commissioners was waived by agreement. Neel Canoll, Treasurer, provided a financial report, copies of which are attached hereto. In sum. Treasurer Carroll reported that at the present time the Brooks Stadium Commission checking account has a balance of $55,935.35. Secretary Bill Pinkston gave a brief report on the status of the Website. Pinkston reported that the Website looked good and that when schedules were received for the 2016 season they should be forwarded on to him so that Website manager. the Greg McKeel gave a brief report on the Paducah Tilghman season. Things went extremely well and Tilghman is satisfied with its residency at Brooks Stadium. President Hideg gave a brief report on the American Legion State Toumament. Apparently, only two or three teams were ever able to show up. President Hideg reported that the American Legion Baseball Program appears to be in rapid decline and may not be viable henceforth. President Hideg reported on the National Club Baseball Association World Series that was conducted earlier in the spring of 2015. The NCBA is imminently satisfied with Brooks Stadium and the hospitality shown to it by the stadium and the City of Paducah. NCBA will be back for another world series in the spring of 2016 and wishes to discuss a contract extension to include the following year,2017 . President Hideg reported that the Carbondale Miners will retum to play baseball versus Evansville again in 2016, Murray State will also play UK again at Brooks Stadium in 2016' On motion made and seconded, the Commission voted to reimburse Frank Hideg for phone bills that he has personally paid. The amount ofthe reimbursement is in the amount of $2,191.23. The Commissioners discussed fielding a team in the Ohio Valley Summer Collegiate Baseball League. On motion made and seconded, the Commission agreed to form and field a team to participate in calendar year 2016. The Commission will investigate various mechanisms for paying the $5,000 initiation fee into the League. The Commission voted to pursue whatever steps necessary to secure a beer sales concession. It was reported that the mayor and all commissioners have responded very favorably to having a team in residence at Brooks Stadium next summer and are also in favor ofbeer sales.
