HomeMy WebLinkAbout4-12-18 Brooks Stadium Commission Meeting Minutes2t1459 MINUTES OF BROOKS STADIUM COMMISSION MEETING 4-72-L8 The Brooks Stadium Commission met at the offices of Paducah Parks and Recreation at noon on Thursday, April 12. Commission members present were: President Frank Hideg; Treasurer Neel Carroll; Secretary Bill Pinkston; and Commission members Greg McKeel and Jay Smith. Ashley of the Parks Department sat in for Parks Director Mark Thompson. An invocation was given by Neel Carroll. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Jay Smith. The reading of the minutes of the last Commission meeting was waived by unanimous consent of the members. Treasurer Neel Carroll provided a financial report. The Brooks Stadium Commission bank account has a balance of S80,242.86. President Frank Hideg reported on the playing schedule at the Stadium so far this season and describes it as "a good year so far". The spring Ohio Valley League meeting, to be conducted in Madison on April 14, was discussed. President Hideg, Secretary Pinkston and Paducah Chiefs General Manager Greg McKeel are planning to attend. Pinkston discussed the argument to be presented at that meeting as to why the Chiefs require their players to work at the Stadium in lieu of paying the OVL player fee in amount of 5600. One or two other teams have complained that this "sweat equity" payment by Chiefs players is not fair to them, The Mayor's Board Survey was discussed. The Commission voted to accept President Hideg's draft and it will be presented to her. Per Treasurer Carroll, the Diamond Deck still needs corporate sponsors for 7 nights of the Chiefs' upcoming season. Chiefs' General Manager Greg McKeel stated that the Chiefs still need two more "host families" to lodge players for the summer. 17 of the 27 players will be staying with host families this season. McKeel reported that he needed a check from Carroll for 53,500 to pay for baseballs, There being no further business, on motion made and seconded, the meeting was adjourned. William E.
