MINUTES OF BROOKS STADIUM COMMISSION MEETING 3.26.2021
A called meeting of the Brooks Stadium Commission was conducted on March 26,2021. at
Brooks Stadium. Board members present were President Frank (Doc) Hideg, Treasurer Neel
Carroll. Secretary Bill Pinkston. Other in attendance were Chris Cappock, Chip Cox. Howard
Finley. Greg Mckeel, Jay Smith, and Amie Clark.
The meeting was called to order by President Hideg. The pledge ofallegiance was led by
President Hideg.
Reading of the minutes of the last meeting was waived.
Paducah City Commissioner David Guess led the welcome. Amie Clark. the Paducah Parks
Director provided an explanation of Brooks Stadium's relationship with the Paducah Parks
Department; Brooks Stadium being a city park operated by Brooks Stadium Commission.
Reading olthe Financial report was given by Neel Carroll indicating an approximate balance ol
$68,000.00 in the checking account.
President Doc Hideg led discussion ofoutfield sign installation in left center field. The cost ol
the project will total approximately $30,000.00. President Hideg motioned to accept the budget,
and the motion was approved.
President Hideg discussed the condition olBrooks Stadium. The outfield signs will be added to
either side of the "Welcome to our Home" signed at left center field. Rental of the Sky Box was
discussed.
Brooks Stadium is prepared to host Paducah Tilghman as the team has helped prepare the field
after each practice. A work day is scheduled for March 27.2021 in order for the parents to clean
the concession stand, bathrooms, press boxes and locker room. Parents helped assemble the
batling cage. DJ Sherrill and Sayveon McEwen were commended for their help at the stadium.
Amie Clark reiterated that maintenance to the Stadium behind the gates was the duty of Brooks
Stadium while maintenance outside of the gates was that of the City.
Roy Dunning tumed on the water and made necessary repairs to the system.
The Miners are scheduled to play at Brooks Stadium with tickets sales benefitting the Brooks
Stadium Commission.
Tilghman will host the Kentucky High School 2.A sectional at Brooks Stadium on April 8th and
April 9th of 2021.
The Paducah Cheifs Update was led by Greg McKeel. Tickets are being printed as The Chief's
wilt play this summer. They will play ten (10) teams this year with the addition of
Hendersonville. Tennessee. Treasurer Neel Carroll stated that The Chiefs are owned by Brooks
Stadium. Greg McKeel asserted that The Chiefs were owned by the City of Paducah
The coviD-19 safety policy wirhin the stadium for paducah rilghman High school was
discussed. Jason Nickel stated the games will be limiled to a 50o/o capacity at the stadium with
social distancing enforced. other issues such as staffing, scheduling, uniforms, and housing were
discussed.
Jeff Parker requested Brooks Stadium allow the overflow crowd from Touchdowns and Tunes to
utilize the parking lot on Labor Day weekend. guaranteeing a minimum donation of $500.00 to
Brooks Stadium Commission. Motioned and approved by all.
JetT Parker suggested entering into a contract with The Catering company for a three-year term
with an option lor a three-year extension ofthe contract. Under this contract, The catering
Company would have exclusive rights to concessions and catering with the exclusion of Paducah
Tilghman home games and Southern Illinois Miners games. The Catering Company would pay
l5% of all concessions and beer sales to Brooks Stadium. Amie clark suggested a provision in
the contract for Brooks Stadium's right to approve the menu. The Commission further discussed
only a one (l) year contract as opposed to three (3). Secretary Bill Pinkston agreed to draw up
the contract.
Proposal to present Richard Abraham with a plaque to recognize his service to Brooks Stadium
was motioned and approved.
Chip Cox discussed the formation ofa baseball team associated with the Ohio Valley Conference
League for high school players.
Paducah Tilghman High School's contract for the 2021 baseball season was discussed charging
$6,000.00 to PTHS to ulilize the facilities. Bill Pinkston is to drafi the contract.
