HomeMy WebLinkAbout12-29-16 Brooks Stadium Commission Meeting Minutes200552 MINUTES OF BROOKS STADIUM COMMISSION MEETING 72-29-16 The regular meeting of the Brooks Sadium Commision was conducted on December 29,2076, in the offices of Mark Thompson, City of Paducah Parks and Recreation Department. Members present were Frank Hideg, president; Neel Carroll, Treasures; Bill Pinkston, secretary; Greg McKeel; Lenora Goode. Gues Greg Cannon also attended. Bill Pinkston gave an invocation. Neel Carroll led the Pledge of Allegiance. Pinkston provided minutes from the meeting of 9-29-15. Neel carroll gave a financial report. He reported that the commission had balance in its checkbook of 592,508.89. Neel reported on sales of paducah Chiefs memorabilia at Kentucky Oaks Mall over the Christmas season. Neel gave a brief report on the Growth lncorporated decision to no longer include Brooks stadium within its penumbra. As a result, and in order to facilitate fund raising and to lower insurance costs, the Paducah chiefs were incorporated as a non-profit corporation under Kentucky law. Neel reported that commission member Chip Cox was finishing application for 502(c)(3) status with the lRS. President Hideg reported on the status of Brooks stadium and goings-on there. 50 additional chairback seasts have been added. president Hideg reported on field upgrades and the addition of a new "party deck" to the left field bleachers. Lenora Goode reported on efforts to attract "host families" to house Chiefs players during the 2017 season. A meeting was tentatively scheduled for January 70,2017, to further efforts a finding host families. Greg McKeel, Chiefs General Manager, reported on current efforts to sign up collegiate ballplayers for the 2017 season. Greg reported that he had 1g players under contract with another 3 to 5 strong prospects. Guest Greg Cannon reported on his efforts to publicize the Chiefs through the use of social media, including Facebook and other mediums. There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
