A MUNICIPAL ORDER ALLOCATING $500,000 AS A PLEDGE FOR THE
STABILIZATION OF THE COLUMBIA THEATER FACADE AS LOCAL
MATCHING FUNDS FOR THE COLUMBIA ART HOUSE
WHEREAS, the Columbia Theater was built in 1927 as a vaudeville theater in
downtown Paducah; and
WHEREAS, the Columbia Theater has fallen into disrepair and is in need of
funding to stabilize the building fagade; and
WHEREAS, the Columbia Art House, Inc. is working to find funding to stabilize
the fagade which is estimated to cost approximately $1.5 million; and
WHEREAS, the City of Paducah wishes to pledge matching funds in the amount
of $500,000 toward the stabilization of the fagade.
KENTUCKY:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDERED BY THE CITY OF PADUCAH,
SECTION 1. That the City of Paducah hereby pledges $500,000 for the
stabilization of the Columbia Theater fagade. Said pledge shall be in the form of matching funds
and shall be contingent upon the Columbia Art House, Inc. successfully raising the remaining
funding necessary to stabilize the fagade.
SECTION 2. Funding for this expenditure shall be held by the City and
earmarked for the Columbia Theater fagade project until such time as the Columbia Art House,
Inc. is able to acquire funding to complete the fagade restoration. This pledge shall have a sunset
date of June 30, 2026. If by that date, the Columbia Art House has not successfully acquired the
funding to complete the fagade, this pledge shall become null and void.
SECTION 3. This Order will be in full foresY)'Odjeffect from and after the date of
