HomeMy WebLinkAbout2000-1-6144ORDINANCE NO. 2000-01-6144 AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE REGULATION OF CERTAIN INDIVIDUALS LOITERING ON PUBLIC PROPERTY ADJACENT TO HOUSING AUTHORITY PROPERTY WHEREAS, the City does not presently regulate the presence of individuals on public property adjacent to Housing Authority property. WHEREAS, it is the opinion of the Board of Commissioners that it would promote public safety and be beneficial to the general public that persons barred from Housing Authority property be prohibited from loitering on public property adjacent to the Housing Authority property. NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the City of Paducah, Kentucky: SECTION 1. LOITERING ON PUBLIC PROPERTY ADJACENT TO HOUSING AUTHORITY PROPERTY. It shall be unlawful for any person whose presence is not permitted on the Housing Authority of Paducah sites to loiter or remain on or about the sidewalks, right -of way, and/or streets adjacent to the sites maintained and operated by the Housing Authority of Paducah, not having any specific legitimate reason for being there. SECTION 2. PENALTY. Whoever violates this provision shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and shall, upon conviction, be subject to a fine of not more than $250.00, or imprisonment for not more than 90 days, or both, for each offense. SECTION 3. This ordinance shall be read on two separate days and will become effective upon summary publication pursuant to KRS Chapter 424.
