JUL 07 2023 Paducah Civic Beautification Board Meeting

CITY HALL
Noon
I. Meeting was called to order at noon.
IL Phones silenced and the pledge of allegiance recited.
III. Minutes read and approved.
IV. Treasurer: Ronna reported the account has $6217.08 dollars. Carol and
Staci will turn in bills next week. There will also be additional bills.
V. Corresponding: no report
VI. Recording: no report
VII. Membership: Welcome new members. Kathy Montgomery and Tim
Story. Tim is a tree arborist.
VIII. House of the month: Staci will be taking this over now.
IX. Children's Memorial Garden: the new dogwoods have been planted.
X. Garden Club Liaison: last month had a garden club meeting.
XI. Nominating Committee: Meeting will be held at Carol's house to
determine the officers.
XII. Monument Board: Add to tree board.
XIII. Dogwood Trail: Awards will not be based on lighting. The trail will not
change this year. Press release will run in the Paducah Sun. Discussion
was had about cast prizes for the winners. $50 dollars total. Next year is
the 60th anniversary of the trail. We plan to advertise more to
surrounding areas. Thanks to Carol for the beautiful artwork on the
signs. The city paid for the signs and banners, so we didn't use the
boards funds. Carol will work on the new Dogwood pin for next year to
raise money for the memorial garden. We plan to possibly look for a
sponsor for next year. It was suggested Paducah Power. Winners of the
art contest coming to the commission meeting tomorrow for
presentation. There was discussion on increase of traffic in the Dogwood
Trail. Bruce would like the city to do a study for the data. Tim Story
suggest a survey for next year. Tim also suggested the best time to plant
the dogwoods is Jan. and Feb. with good soil and compost. The
Dogwood committee will concentrate on fund raiser. Signs will be
distributed by Jill, Karen, Tim and Wayne. Pick those up at Jackie's
Wednesday at 9 am. Awards banquet May 9th at 4:30 pm Tuesday.
Ronna, Lucia and Staci will help with food. Staci and Monica will be
presenting the awards and speaking. Paul will be handling the plaques.
Kathy will be on the trolley rides.
XIV. New Business: Bruce idea proposing a new design logo for the Civic
Beautification Board for stationary. He asked if the board had funds.
Jackie proposes to set up a dollar amount to spend. Bruce will work on
new proposal price. Approximately, a month to complete. He suggested
a goal for the future is to be socially present. Suggested maybe use
Paducah School for the use of the designing. Bruce said he would
schedule a meeting. Paul Grumley suggested using Paul Aho from the
Design school.
XV. Old Business: Master Gardner's: Play ball.
