Paxton Park Paducah KY April 18, 2023, 2023 Meeting of the Paducah Golf Commission Meeting called to order by Chairman Rick Loyd at 6:00 PM at Paxton Park. Chairman Loyd led the Commission in the Pledge of Allegiance. Commissioners Present: Rick Loyd, Mark Knecht, Steve Seltzer, Mark Kettler, John W. Gill, Mark Thompson & Jeanne Stroup, Secretary/Treasurer. Others Present: Director Daniel R. Mullen Motion by John Gill to approve the March Minutes as written. Motion Second by Mark Kettler. Motion carried. Director Mullen welcomed Mark Thompson to the Commission, thanked him for his willingness to serve. Director Mullen then discussed the following: OLD BUSINESS: • Audit reports have been delivered to City Manager and Mayor. Invoice was included but 2"d installment of annual budget payment has not been received yet. • The City Public Works Department has been out to look at the clubhouse exterior to diagnose its needs and plan renovation for paint, windows and wood trim. • Our Spring Players Dinner was held Friday evening with a full house. • The rails along the steps to the scoreboard project has been completed by David Weishaar, one of our members for a total cost of $250. • Some of the planned landscaping at the gate has begun. More will follow as time allows. • No response yet from the Sentry Insurance folks regarding a competitive bid on our liability, workmen's comp and golf course insurance. • Discussed quotes on parking lot fencing and maintenance building garage door. • Discussed estimate numbers from Smith Contracting regarding paving costs. • Director Mullen said he has discussed new high school golf privileges with Paducah Tilghman and St Mary but not with McCracken County yet. • Discussed sending out survey to membership to ask for input regarding tee box improvements. $5K has been set aside for these improvements. • Paxton Park has signed one year renewal agreement for website management with Sports Next. • Commissioners Seltzer and Knecht followed up on silt fencing issue brought up at last meeting that was creating dirt issues from neighboring construction. Their efforts, along with Steve Doolittle, McCracken County Assistant Judge -Executive, have resulted in the installation of required silt fencing at development site to minimize sediment deposits downstream at the golf course. • Chairman Loyd brought up some sod/dirt issues on 18 that players have asked about, and that is on the improvement list to be addressed, when weather/time allows. • Discussion on wind screen options for parking lot. Commissioner Thompson brought up possible wind screen alternative for parking lot. NEW BUSINESS: • Director Mullen informed Commission that Bryant Law Center has renewed title sponsorship of the City 2 -Player event, as has James Marine. Waiting on Pepsi to respond about their tournament sponsorship renewal. Texas Roadhouse has renewed their title sponsorship for Seniors. Waiting on response from Paducah Bank on their Seniors sponsorship. • Paducah Fire Department did a facilities inspection last month and inquired about placing a Knox box outside the gate for access to gate/building in the event of emergency. Discussion followed, determined we would proceed with purchase and installation of said box per their recommendation. • Direction Mullen went over quarterly numbers. • Discussed green fee volume YTD: Daily fees were up 31% in the first quarter due primarily to better weather. • Commissioner Seltzer discussed sharing economic impact information with Group Travel Sales Manager for Paducah Visitors and Convention Center. • Secretary Stroup went over financials.
