CITY CLERK Paducah Civic Beautification Board Meeting
March 13th, 2023
City Hall
Noon
In attendance: Jackie Smith, Karen Petter, Mary Hammond,
Paul Grumley, Jill Durham, Lucia Burkart, Carol Vanderboegh,
Ronna Ward, Monica Feiler, Whitney Wallace and Staci Drake.
I. Jackie called the meeting to order at 12:15 pm.
II. Phones silenced and the pledge recited.
III. Karen passed the minutes of last month's meeting for
review. The year of the DWT this the 59th not the 60tH
Please make note of this. The minutes changed and
accepted. Mary motioned and Paul seconded.
IV. Treasurer Report: Ronna reported $6218.08 in the
account. Still have one art check not cashed.
V. Corresponding Sec.: No report. Karen will send a get -
well card to Dabney.
VI. Recording Sec.: No report
VII. Membership: Jackie reported a member must fill out
the paper to recommend and new member. Then it
goes to the committee and board for review. Jackie
reported the Cathy Montgomery would like to be on the
board. She has applied and it will be a three-year spot. A
motion was made by Carol and Mary seconded. Jackie
also needs people on the nomination committee which
will slate the new officers for the next term. We now
have Carol, Ronna, Monica and Jackie on the
committee.
VIII. House of the Month: Marlborough Way
IX. Children's Memorial Garden: Jackie spoke with Dabney
and the meeting was cancelled for the garden.
X. Coffee: The board thought the coffee went very well
today. A good turnout for the board and the garden
clubs. Nic Hutchison and Rick Murphy were in
attendance. They both presented a wonderful slide
show and details of the progress of the new downtown
hotel. Many questions were asked by several members
and clubs.
XI. Tree Board: Johnathan Perkins is on the tree board,
which he attended the coffee today. He discussed about
clearing of the trees in Paducah and the concerns on
Pecan Drive. Several residents are concerned about the
drainage runoff ad flooding since that's already a
problem. Discussion was also about the tree trimming
for the lines by the road. The next tree board meeting
will be April 20th at 8:30 am. Public welcome.
XII. Memorial Board: No report.
XIII. Dogwood Trail: Jackie passed around the sign-up paper
for the committees. If you were not in attendance, you
will be assigned a committee. Carol had the new signs
for directions and will be put up on the polls soon. Just
note the Trail is the same this year. Banners will go up
soon also. They were done by Minute Man. It was
reported Wayne ordered the trees and will be here
soon. Jackie would like to see a new neighbor award but
that may not be till next year for the 60th. Just
remember people don't have to light up. All hands-on
decksoon.
XIV. Civic Beautification Board Award: no report
XV. New Business: It is with sadness with announce that
Candice has passed away. She had just resigned in
January due to the illness.
XVI. Old Business: We announced that Paducah Garden is
having the Art Show May 16tH- 17tH Open to the public.
Monica announced that the children's art will be moved
the foyer in City Hall due to the Women's Club art show.
