City Hall
In Attendance: Carol VanderBoegh, Staci Drake, Pam Spencer, Whitney
Wallace, Ronna Ward, Monica Feiler, Mary Hammond, Jackie Smith,
Karen Petter.
I. Call to order by Jackie Smith.
II. Pledge recited and phones silenced.
III. January minutes read. Karen will correct names that are
misspelled. Minutes accepted. Mary Hammond motioned and
Ronna seconded.
IV. Committee Reports:
a. Treasurer: Ronna reported we have $6225.01 in our
account. Motion made to accept the report. Carol motioned
and Mary seconded.
b. Pick up Paducah: Whitney thought maybe 500-1000 to help.
Farmers Market will help work. She is looking into working
with "green" businesses. Whitney will need to figure things
to move forward with this event. Bruce will help when he
can. Carol showed us a flyer to go to the public with
information. The date will stay on April 22"d, 2023. Earth
Day. Whitney suggested we keep it scaled down since this is
our first rodeo. April 15th is the city's cleanup day. Whitney
also is planning for the event set up (main station) to be in
the Farmer's market lot. Suggestions were made to get
schools involved. Carol made the note it is the 60th
anniversary of the Dogwood Trail.
c. Corresponding Sec: no report
d. Membership: John Park and Ania Lasota have sent their
resignations to the board.
e. Garden Club Liaison: Mary Hammond will step in for this
position.
f. New members: Suggestions are Jill Durham: Karen Petter
motioned, and Mary Hammond seconded. Approved. Lucia
Rogers Burhart: good asset to board and member of the
Ambassadors, worked in DC. Monica moved to accept, and
Carol seconded. Discussion was had about honorary
members with 10 years of service. Henry Barbour will be put
up for an honorary member for his many years of service.
There will be a letter with certificate sent to him. Mention of
an invite to the Dogwood awards. Carol moved to proceed
with the invite. Ronna seconded.
g. House of the Month: Staci reported 3245 Monroe St. owners
Sherri Morrill and Brian Culp as HOM. Beautiful!
h. Garden Club Liaison: no report
i. Tree Board: no report. Discussion on contacting Johnathan
Perkins the chair to connect with them.
j. Monument Board: World Heritage USA found a "toolbox"
for this board reported by Mary.
k. DWT: Carol showed us the fabulous signs she has made for
the DWT. Directional signs will be metal this year and
reflective. There will be NO banner this year. Discussion was
about the sale of some signs for income. 12x18" will sell for
$29.99 profit of $14.99.
I. Art Contest: Monica reported she will go to each school at
the end of the month to pick up art. She reminded the
schools to get it done in Jan.
m. CBB Coffee: All hands-on deck for the March 13th, 2023,
coffee mixer at City Hall. There will city speakers and garden
clubs attending. Carol will make a gift item to take home.
Painted cards, seeds, thank you notes and a possible
Dogwood pin.
n. Old Business: Corridor signs: Crystal Sanders has offered to
maintain the signs for free if we purchase the plants from
Sanders Nursery. Wonderful news.
