AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE MAYOR
TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF PADUCAH AND THE
PADUCAH HOUSING AUTHORITY
WHEREAS, the Paducah Housing Authority has demolished 199 public
housing units including the units in the Martin Luther King Project on Martin Luther
King Boulevard; and,
WHEREAS, as a result of these demolitions, the City of Paducah Section
8 Program is eligible to apply for up to 199 Section 8 vouchers for replacement units;
and,
WHEREAS, the Paducah Housing Authority is developing a financial
scheme for construction of an assisted living facility for low income residents on the
Martin Luther King Housing Project site that includes the use of 80 new Section 8
vouchers; and
WHEREAS, the Paducah Housing Authority has requested assistance of
the Paducah City Commission in construction of the proposed assisted living facility
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PADUCAH CITY COMMISSION:
SECTION 1. The Paducah City Commission endorses the proposal of the
Paducah Housing Authority to construct an 80 unity multi -story assisted living facility for
low-income residents on the site of the Martin Luther King Housing Project.
SECTION 2. The City Manager and the staff of the City's Section 8
Program are hereby instructed to apply for additional Section 8 Housing vouchers.
SECTION 3. The Mayor and City staff are authorized to execute all the
documents required to apply for and receive the additional Section 8 vouchers and to
project base the new vouchers for the proposed assisted living facility.
SECTION 4. This ordinance shall be read on two separate days and will
become effective upon summary publication pursuai
