Motion by John Gill to approve the August Minutes as written. Motion Second by Mark
Kettler. Motion carried.
Director Mullen thanked the Commission for their flexibility, again, regarding changing the
meeting date.
OLD BUSINESS:
Director Mullen went over the following old business:
• He has not talked to Pam Spencer yet regarding our social media needs. Hopefully next
month he will have time to get that done.
He has not put the information together yet for the report to be prepared re the proposed
Assistant position discussed with the Mayor and City Manager ... it is still on Director
Mullen's to-do list. He has asked several schools about fees paid to host clubs with
mixed results. He has plans to document the results for future conversations with the
Mayor when he gets the chance to put our staffing proposal together. Discussion
followed.
The Seniors went well and our own Commission member Mark Knecht is the overall
Champion. Went over final financial report on the event and discussed. Texas sponsor
donation still outstanding. Special thanks to Commission Mark Kettler, who announced
and kept me on time down on the tee all weekend. And thanks to Commissioner Bill
Wells, who brought out the carts all weekend.
The boys high school regional tournament was held yesterday and went well with 83 kids
participating. The course and site selection got many compliments and good comments.
The Park will be paid for this event.
• Requests forbids on the tree trim project have been made from Paducah Tree Service and
Nicks Tree Service. No bids have been received yet.
NEW BUSINESS:
Director Mullen went over the following New Business:
We have a dual shotgun Saturday for the West Kentucky Youth Camp (new event) which
means we will be closed all day, and we have a dual shotgun next Friday for the Lifeline
Recovery Center, which means we will be closed that day. We were just closed last
weekend for the Seniors tournament, and we were closed most of yesterday for the
regionals. We have been closed to public play more frequently than normal, but it is just
that time of year for some of these once a year events, and it will soon be over.
• We only have 3 events in October ... 2 Fundraiser scrambles and a 9 -hole legal
community event. Anticipating our charity (benefit) event to be around 1st week of
October of next year.
• Green fee volume was up 25% in August, and YTD is up 11% after 8 months.
September is up 43% thru the first 3 weeks, including yesterday, when we were closed
until 3PM.
• Informed the Commission he will be gone for about 5 or 6 days in October.
• Discussing possible fundraiser event end of October to raise finds for rough mower.
Discussion by Commission followed.
