be given.
V. Treasurer: Ronna noted we have $7185.45 in our account.
Some Dogwood checks still have not been cashed.
VI. Minutes of last month's meeting were noted and approved.
Carol motioned and Phyllis seconded.
VII. Corresponding Secretary: notes were sent to both new
members.
VIII. General discussion: The Mayor is behind us for pick up
Paducah. Possibly include GPED and driving around to look at
what areas need care. Carol suggested flyers to all citizens. The
river project is an issue since the boats arrive at the foot of
Broadway. Ugly site. Discussion was made if the city needs to
clean up behind the flood wall or CBB. The concrete planters
need to be a concern since there are weeds in them now. Ideas
of plantings were brought forth. Jackie asked Brian Carter to
head a small committee for this project. Paul asked for
suggestions for the riverfront. He suggested that the whole city
needs to be involved to clean up. Discussion of maybe a party
with food and drinks be had for this event. And who is going to
be responsible for the maintenance of the planters?
IX. Membership: New members already introduced.
X. House of the month: John said they picked 307 S. 25th Street as
the HOM.
XI. Children's Memorial Garden: Dogwoods did not survive again.
Jackie suggested we may need to just go simple this time.
However, we need to contact Carolyn Roof to ask for her
advice.
XII. Tree Board: No report. Paul asked if we have heard from the
city about the trees on Pines Rd. No response.
XIII. Monument: No report
XIV. Dogwood Trail: Jackie met with the mayor and asked for the
new signs to paid by the city. The mayor wants to see the old
signs. Jackie wants to keep it simple, but more visual and
directional. Brighter. New banners will stay with the theme of
the Dogwood Trail. Monica reported the art project from
schools are under way already. Notice will be sent in Oct.
XV. Civic Beautification Awards: Paul and Laura have been working
on getting frames for the awards. We decided there will be 2
awards this fall.
XVI. Jackie reminded us of the master gardeners' workshops.
XVII. Meeting was adjourned at 1:05 pm.
