A MUNICIPAL ORDER OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY,
DECLARING THE REAL PROPERTY LOCATED AT 420 SOUTH
13TH STREET, PADUCAH, KENTUCKY TO BE SURPLUS
PROPERTY, AUTHORIZING THE TRANSFER OF SAID REAL
PROPERTY TO THE PADUCAH PUBLIC SCHOOLS BOARD OF
EDUCATION AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE
THE DEED AND ALL DOCUMENTS RELATED TO SAME
WHEREAS, pursuant to KRS 82.083 a written determination has been
made that the City does not have any use at this time or in the future for property located
at 420 South 13t' Street, which constitutes surplus real estate; and
WHEREAS, the City acquired several properties on June 17, 1975, from
URCDA that make up the boundaries of the current Midtown Park Complex, operated
and maintained by the Parks and Recreation Department for park and recreational
purposes or any other uses deemed necessary, desirable or in the interest of the general
welfare of the public; and
WHEREAS, the Paducah Public Schools Board of Education owns
property adjacent to the park property that is developed and utilized for school athletics;
and
WHEREAS, the Paducah Public Schools Board of Education has
requested the donation of a portion of the property for the purposes of developing
additional athletic field space to accommodate their growing soccer program; and
WHEREAS, the development of this site will include a youth soccer field,
a practice field for the high school program, and additional parking to accommodate the
development; and
WHEREAS, it has been determined that the proposed use of the property
will provide more opportunities for the youth of Paducah than the current use as a golf
course; and
WHEREAS, the development of the property as quality soccer fields will
promote economic growth through tourism as visitors come to compete in the various
games and tournaments; and
WHEREAS, the City now wishes to transfer the property without
compensation to the Paducah Public Schools Board of Education for the development of
youth soccer fields.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDERED BY THE BOARD OF
COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. Recitals and Authorizations. The Board of Commissioners
hereby declares the property located at 420 South 13' Street, Paducah, Kentucky to be
surplus property as it relates to the operations of the City. Further, the Board of
Commissioners hereby authorizes the Mayor to execute the deed and all documents
necessary to transfer the property located at 420 South 13th Street to the Paducah Public
Schools Board of Education without compensation.
SECTION 2. Effective Date. This Order shall be in full force and effect
on and after the date as approved by the Board of Commissioners of the City of Paducah,
Kentucky.
