Meeting of the Paducah Golf Commission
Meeting called to order by Chairman Rick Loyd at 5:00 PM at Paxton Park.
Chairman Loyd led the Commission in the Pledge of Allegiance.
Commissioners Present: Rick Loyd, Mark Knecht, Steve Seltzer, Mark Kettler, John W. Gill,
Bill Wells & Jeanne Stroup, Secretary.
Others Present: Director Daniel R. Mullen
Motion by Mark Kettler to approve the September Minutes as written. Motion Second by
Bill Wells. Motion carried.
Chairman Loyd requested presentation of Old Business:
• Proof of receipt forms for Open Records act delivered to Claudia Meeks at the City.
• We have received from Rex Smith the new 3 -year contract for Cobb title sponsorship.
• The Benefit event was held with 94 players participating. Discussion followed detailing
final results. Thank you notes have been written to Kenny, Russ, Freddie and Mark, and
Baird, along with dinner cards. Thank You email blast was sent out to everyone. Invoices
for outstanding sponsorships have been mailed.
• Stumps have been ground out and cleaned up. Discussion of additional tree that will be
removed probably next year.
• Director Mullen confirmed our property insurance is "replacement cost" based and our
"Tee to Green' is for up to $100,000 in damages.
• Parking lot striping will start later this month.
Chairman Loyd requested presentation of New Business:
• Thank you to Steve Seltzer and friends for putting up fence around the lake.
• Director Mullen informed the commission that a new pad on the back of the driving range
was bartered out and will provide a permanent base for the bleachers, which are
physically moved every time we mow, and they are heavy. Next year, we will put large
distance banners on the back of each target green from a marker from the tee. Eventually,
it is the intent to install some artificial turf along the back of this range to use in the
offseason. Additionally, we will install some Meyer zoysia on this tee in the future since
it seems to wear better than bermuda, based on our experience this year.
• Bryant Law Center has agreed to co-sponsor City Am for 2022. Dates to be determined.
• Discussion 2022 budget. Motion to accept 2022 budget proposal made by Mark
Knecht. Motion second by John Gill. Motion carried. This is based on 5% early pay
discount and 7.5% price increase.
• October green fee play was up 9 %---YTD is up 2% thin the first 9 months. November
has been down approximately 20% so far through the first 15 days.
• Discussion of annual employee performance bonus for Paxton employees, that is in our
2021 budget. Motion made by John Gill for payout of these bonuses. Motion
seconded by Mark Kettler. Motion Carried. Bonuses will be paid out after
Thanksgiving holiday.
• Secretary Stroup went over current financials
Motion to Adjourn made by John Gill. Motion Second by Bill Wells. Motion
Carried.
