AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF THE JAYCEE CIVIC
CENTER PROPERTY AT 2701 PARK AVENUE, PADUCAH, KENTUCKY
WHEREAS, the Paducah -McCracken County Recreational, Tourist and
Convention Commission is presently leasing the Jaycee Civic Center property from
the Paducah Junior Chamber of Commerce Building Corporation, and
WHEREAS, said Commission has an option to purchase the property
which on ]March 31, 1975 would be in the amount of $41,535.00 for land and building
improvements, and
WHEREAS, the said Commission does not wish to own said property
but will exercise its option and simultaneously convey the property to the City of
Paducah for said sum,
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That the City Treasurer be, and he is hereby, authorized
to pay to the Paducah -McCracken County Recreational, Tourist and Convention
Commission the sum of $41,535.00 for the purchase of the land and building
improvement known as the Jaycee Civic Center, at 2701 Park Avenue, Kentucky,
which properly is more specifically described as follows:
Beginning at a point in the northwest corner of the intersection
of lfinkleville Road with Thompson Avenue; thence westerly
with the north line of lfinkleville Road (Park Avenue) 200 feet;
thence northwardly and parallel with Thompson Avenue (now
Mathis Drive) 200 feet; thence caslwardly and parallel with
lfinkleville Road 200 feet to a point on the west line of Thompson
Avenue; thence southwardly and with the west line of Thompson
Avenue 200 feet to the point of beginning.
SECTION 2. The funds required to be paid for the purchase of the land
and improvements as set forth in Section 1 above shall be paid from the Public
Works Cumulative Reserve Fund.
SECTION 3. The Board has specifically found that a public need exists
for the city's acquisition of the prroperty which is adjacent to Noble Park, and was
originally a part of said park.
SECTION 4. An emergency is declared to oxist and this ordinance shall
therefore be introduced and remain on file for one week for public inspection in the
complrtod form in which it shall be put upon its final passage, and if adopted shall
be in frill force and effect immediately thereafter.
