A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE CITY,MANAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS
FOR THE SALE TO THE CITY OF PADUCAH OF ONE (1) RUBBER TIRED END LOADER
FOR USE BY THE STREET DEPARTMENT OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF
PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby, authorized
and directed to advertise for bids for the sale to the City of Paducah,
Kentucky, of one (1) rubber tired end loader for use by the street
department, having the following minimum specifications:
"The end loader shall be the latest and current four (4) wheel
drive model. Each bidder shall state the year and model number
of the machine which his bid is based on.
Engine
The engine shall be full diesel and shall have a piston
displacement of not less than 236 cubic inches; horsepower shall
not be less than 66 horsepower. The engine shall be equipped
with a twelve (12) volt starting system, dry type air cleaner and
alternator.
Gauges
All standard gauges including an hour meter shall be furnished.
LOADER
The loader shall be equipped with a fully enclosed, heavy gauge
metal cab with heater and defrosters. Electric windshield wipers
shall be installed in both front and rear of cab. The loader
shall be equipped with roll over protection and seat belt and shall
meet O.S.H.A. specifications. Lights shall include two (2) front,
one (1) rear driving, and one (1) rear stop. The seat shall be
adjustable and steering shall be hydraulic boosted.
Tires and Brakes
The tires shall be 1200 x 24 8 ply; the brakes shall be hydraulic
four (4) wheel brakes and mechanical parking brake.
Transmission
The transmission shall be full power shift with three (3) forward
and three (3) reverse speeds.
Bucket
The bucket shall be a general pirpose bucket with a S.A.E. rated
capacity of not less than one and one-half (1;Z) cubic yards heaped.
The bucket shall not exceed eighty-eight (88) inches in width. The
hydraulic system and bucket shall be capable of a 10,000 pound lift
to a height of ten (10) feet above the ground. Automatic bucket
positioner and boom kickout shall be included.
Warrantv and Delivery
Each bidder shall state the terms of his warranty and delivery time
after the award of the bid. Warranties and delivery time may be a
consideration in evaluating the bids.

Manuals
The successful bidder shall furnish the City with one (1) complete
operations manual, one (1) complete maintenance manual, and one (1)
complete parts and repair manual.
General
Each bidder shall state the amount he will accept in cash for the
purchase price of the loader he offers for sale including all
applicable taxes, and also the amount to be allowed by accepting
as a trade-in one (1) 1955 Hough Payloader, serial number 175846670;
said end loader may be inspected on request at the City Garage,
919 Madison Street, Paducah, Kentucky.
Each bidder shall state in his bid the popular name and model
upon which he bids, and if requested, will exhibit at the City Hall
to the City officials, a similar type rubber tired end loader of
the model bid upon. Bidders shall also submit with their bid, the
latest printed specifications and advertising literature on the unit
they propose to furnish. Each bidder shall also be prepared to give
a complete demonstration of the merits of the machine offered. The
machine so demonstrated shall be complete as offered by the bidder
for this bid."
SECTION 2. The City Manager shall advertise for sealed bids by
posting a notice at the City Hall door and by inserting notice of the
request for bids in the Sun Democrat not less than seven days nor more
than twenty-one days before the opening of same. All bids shall be
sealed and no bid shall be received after the hour fixed in the notice
for the opening of same. All bids received by the City Manager up
to the time fixed for the opening of same shall be filed with the
Board of Commissioners who may let a contract to the lowest and best
bidder, and the Board of Commissioners shall reserve the right to
reject any and all bids and the City shall not become legally
obligated to purchase same until the adoption of an ordinance auth-
orizing the execution of a purchase contract.
SECTION 3. This resolution shall be in full force and effect
from and after its adoption.
