ORDINANCE NO. 74-12-1062
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 10-49, 10-50, 10-51, 10-52, 10-54,
10-55, 10-56, 10-58, 10-59, AND 10-61 OF CHAPTER 10 "CIVIL SERVICE" OF THE CODE
OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF
PADUCAH,KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That Section 10-49 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of
Paducah, Kentucky, be amended and reordained so that said section as amended and
reordained shall hereafter read as follows:
"Sec. 10-49. Department of finance.
(a) There is hereby created and authorized the following positions in the
department of finance, and the salary of each position, provided the amount of such
salary is not changed under any apportionment ordinance hereafter adopted, shall
be as follows:

This department shall be under the direction and supervision
of the city treasurer, a noncivil service position which has hereto-
fore been created by separate ordinance.

(b) The license inspector shall be paid at the rate of $836.00 per month j

month; at the, expiration of one year $856.00 per month; at the expiration of two

years $866.00 per month; and at the expiration of three, years $876.00 per month,

such increases to be made upon recommendation of the city manager.
(c) The computer audit clerk shall be paid tit the rate of $535.00 per month
for the first six months of employment; at the expiration of six months $5.15.00 per
month; at the expiration of ane year $555.00 per month; at the expiration of two
years $565.00 per month; and at the expiration of three years $575.00 per month.
such increases to be made upon recommendation of the eity manager.
(d) The secretary shall be paid at the rate of $535.00 per month for the
first six months of employment; at the expiration of six months $545.00 per month;
at the expiration of one year $555.00 per month; and at the expiration of two years
$565.00 per month; and at the expiration of four years $570.00 per month, such
14 increases to be made upon recommendation of the city manager.
(e) The clerk -typist shall be paid at the rate of $445.00 per month for the
first six months of employment; at the expiration of six months $490.00 per month;
at the expiration of one year $500.00 per month; at the expiration of two years
$510.00 per month; and at the expiration of three years $520.00 per month, such
increases to be made upon recommendation of the city manager.
(f) The bookkeeper shall be paid at the rate of $598.00 per month for the
first six months of employment; at the expiration of six months $608.00 per month;
and at the expiration of two years $618.00 per month, such increases to be made
upon recommendation of the city manager.
(g) For such period of time as the City of Paducah receives and must
account for general revenue sharing funds and any special revenue sharing funds
from the United States Government, the auditor and bookkeeper shall be compensated
for their extra services in an amount as follows:
Auditor $30.00 per month. Bookkeeper $20.00 per month. Any of the
foregoing positions in subsection (a) may hereafter from time to time be designated
for payment from said revenue sharing funds upon motion duty passed by the Board
of Commissioners of the City of Paducah.
I SECTION 2. That Section 10-50 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of
Paducah, Kentucky, be amended and reordained so that said section as amended and
reordained shall hereafter read as follows:
"Sec. 10-50. City assessor's office.
(a) There is hereby created and authorized the following positions in the
office of the city assessor, which office was formerly in the department of finance,
and the salary of each position, provided the amount of such salary is not changed
under any apportionment ordinance hereafter adopted, shall be as follows: Ili

(d) The secretary shall be paid at the rate of $535.00 per month for the
first six months of employment; at the expiration of six months $545.00 per month;
at the expiration of one year $555.00 per month; and at the expiration of two years
$565.00 per month; and at the expiration of four years $570.00 per month, such
14 increases to be made upon recommendation of the city manager.
(e) The clerk -typist shall be paid at the rate of $445.00 per month for the
first six months of employment; at the expiration of six months $490.00 per month;
at the expiration of one year $500.00 per month; at the expiration of two years
$510.00 per month; and at the expiration of three years $520.00 per month, such
increases to be made upon recommendation of the city manager.
(f) The bookkeeper shall be paid at the rate of $598.00 per month for the
first six months of employment; at the expiration of six months $608.00 per month;
and at the expiration of two years $618.00 per month, such increases to be made
upon recommendation of the city manager.
(g) For such period of time as the City of Paducah receives and must
account for general revenue sharing funds and any special revenue sharing funds

(b) The clerk -stenographer shall be paid at the rate of $525.00 per month
for the first six months of employment; at the expiration of six months $535.00 per
month; at the expiration of one year $545.00 per month; and at the expiration of two

years $555.00 per month, such increases to be made upon recommendation of the city
manager.
(c) The chainman shall be paid at the rate of $535.00 per month for the first
year of employment; at the expiration of one year the salary :;lull be increased to

(d) The clerk -typist shall be paid at the rate of $445, flit per month for the

SECTION 4. That Section 10-52 of the Code of Ordinances of the City

(d) All other positions of hourly employment shall be paid at the base hourly
rate for the first six months of employment, and at the expiration of six months the rate
of pay shall be increased by $0.05 per hour, such increases to be made upon recommendation

of the city manager.
SECTION 5. That Section 10-54 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of
Paducah, Kentucky, be amended and reordained so that said section as amended and

reordained shall hereafter read as follows:
"Sec. 10-54. Cemetery department.
(a) There is hereby authorized and created the following positions in the
cemetery department and the salary of each position, provided the amount of such salary
is not changed under any apportionment ordinance hereafter adopted, shall be as
follows:

(b) Laborers shall be paid at the rate of $2.98 per hour for the first six

(c) Truck drivers shall be paid at the base hourly rate for the first six

city manager.

Paducah, Kentucky, he amended and reordained so that said section as amended and
reordained shall hereafter read as follows:

(c) Maintenance men shall be paid at the rate of $599.00 per month for the
first six months of employment; at the expiration of six months $609.00 per month; at
the expiration of one year $619.00 per month; at the expiration of two years $629.00 per
month; and at the expiration of three years $639.00 per month, such increases to be
made upon recommendation of the city manager.
SECTION 7. That Section 10-56 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of
Paducah, Kentucky, be amended and reordained so that said section as amended and
reordained shall hereafter read as follows:
"Sec. 10-56. Sewage disposal department.
(a) There is hereby authorized and created the following positions in the
sewage disposal department, and the salary of each position, provided the amount of
such salary is not changed under any apportionment ordinance hereafter adopted,
shall be as follows:

(b) Operators shall be paid at the rate of $599.00 per month for the first

made upon recommendation of the city manager.

SECTION 10. That Section 10-61 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of
Paducah, Kentucky, be amended and reordained so that said section as amended and
reordained shall hereafter read as follows:
"Sec. 10-61. Unassigned positions.
(a) There is hereby authorized and created the following positions not
assigned to any department of the City of Paducah, but directly under the supervision
of the city manager, and the salary of each position, provided the amount of such
salary is not changed under any apportionment ordinance hereafter adopted, shall
be as follows:

(1.) The building and electrical inspector shall porfornt the dulics formerly

(c) Maintenance positions shall be paid at the base hourly rate for the first
tths of employment, and at the expiration of six months the rate of pay shall be
ed by $0.05 per hour, such increases to be made upon recommendation of the

(d) Janitor and laborer positions shall be paid at the base hourly rate for the
first six months of employment; at the expiration of six months there may be an increase
of $0.05 per hour; at the expiration of one year there may be an additional increase of
$0.05 per hour, and at the expiration of two years there may be an additional increase
of $0.05 per hour, such increases to be made upon recommendation of the city manager.
(e) The clerk -typist shall be paid at the rate of $445.00 per month for the
first six months of employment; at the expiration of six months $490.00 per month;
at the expiration of one year $500.00 per month; at the expiration of two years $510.00
per month; and at the expiration of three years $520.00 per month, such increases to
be made upon recommendation of the city manager."
SECTION 11. Sections 1, 2, 3, and 8 amend an ordinance adopted December 2,
1947, which was last amended by Ordinance No. 74-3-937 adopted March 12, 1974.
Section 4 amends an ordinance adopted December 2, 1947 and last amended by Ordinance
No. 74-9-1018 adopted September 3, 1974. Sections 5, 6 and 7 amend an ordinance
adopted December 2, 1947 and last amended by Ordinance No. 74-4-952 adopted
April 2, 1974. Section 9 amends an ordinance adopted April 1.1, 1972, which was
last amended by Ordinance No. 74-9-1023 adopted September 17, 1974. Section 10
amends an ordinance adopted December 2, 1947 which was last amended by Ordinance
No. 74-8-1016 adopted August 27, 1974.
SECTION 12. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and
after January 6, 1975.
