A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS
FOR RELOCATION OF SEWERAGE LINES AND LIFT STATION NEAR I-24 - U.S. 62
INTERCHANGE, AND PRESCRIBING THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS UPON WHICH A
CONTRACT MAY BE LET
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF
PADUCAH,KENTUCKY
SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby, authorized to
advertise for bids for labor and material for relocation of sewerage lines and lift station
near I-24 - U. S. 62 Interchange, said advertisement for bids to be in words and figures
as follows:
ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS
I 1.1.01 RECEIPT OF PROPOSALS: The Board of Commissioners of the City of Paducah,
McCracken County, Kentucky, will receive bids for the construction of sewerage
extensions until 2: 00 P.M., C.S.T. on the 7th day of November, 1974, at the City
Commission Chamber in the City Hall, Paducah, Kentucky, at which time and place
the bids will publicly be opened and read aloud.
1.1.02 PROJECT: The project consists of furnishing materials and constructing all the
following items:
a. 8" Vitrified Clay Pipe. Approximately 2,923 linear feet of 8"
vitrified clay sewer pipe.
b. 10" Vitrified Clay Pipe. Approximately 1,846 linear feet of 10"
vitrified clay sewer pipe.
c. Standard Manholes. Approximately 21 Standard Brick Manholes or
Precast Concrete Manholes.

d. Drop Manholes. Approximately 5 Drop Brick Manholes or Precast
Concrete Manholes.

e. Highway Crossings. Approximately 1,426 linear feet of highway
Crossings - Open Cut and Boring.

f. Steel Casing Pipe. Approximately 1, 247 linear feet of 14" and 16"
�! diameter Steel Casing Pipe.

g • " Approximately 2,166 linear feet of 8" Cast Iron
j Force Alain.
j h. 6" Cast Iron Pipe, Approximately 955 linear feet of 6" Cast Iron
Force Main.
i. Sewage Pumping Station. One 9'-6" diameter preeonstructed lift station
including wetwell, controls, electrical service, etc.
J. Service Road. 10' wide hank gravel service road -grade and diameter
including drainage pipe and compacted bank gravel surface.
1.1.03 OBTAINING CONTRACT DOCUMENTS: Proposed forms of Contract documents,
including plans and specifications are on file at the offices of Community Program
Consultants, Inc., 700 Jefferson Street, Paducah, Kentucky, and may be obtained at
the offices of the Engineer on or after the 241h day of October, 1974. Copies of the
documents will also be on file at the office of the Associated Gencral Contractors,
Paducah, Kentucky.
a. Deposit Required. Copies of the documents may ho obtained by depositing
$50.00 with the Engineer for each set of documents so obtained. The deposits of all who

submit a Proposal will be refunded in full, upon return of the Contract Documents in good
condition within ten (10) days after the opening of bids, except the successful bidder,
whose deposit will be retained. Bidders returning unusable plans or specifications,
nonbidders, including material suppliers and subcontractors, and those returning plans
and specifications after the above mentioned ten (10) day period will be refunded fifty
percent (50%) of their deposit.
1.1.04 PROPOSAL GUARANTY: A satisfactory Bid Bond executed by the bidder and
acceptable sureties in an amount equal to five percent (5%) of the bid shall be submitted
with each bid.
1.1.05 PERFORMANCE BOND AND LABOR AND MATERIAL BOND: The successful bidder
will be required to furnish and pay for satisfactory Performance Bond and Labor and
Material Payment Bond - each in the amount of one hundred percent (100%) of the Contract,
as provided for in the specifications.
1.1.00 WAGE. RATES: Attention of bidders is particularly called to the requirement as to
minimum wage rates as determined by the Department of Labor, Commonwealth of Kentucky
to be paid under this Contract.
1.1.07 OWNER'S RIGHTS RESERVED: The City of Paducah reserves the right to reject
any or all bids or waive and informalities in the bidding. No bid shall be withdrawn for a
period of thirty (30) days subsequent to the opening of bids without the consent of the
City of Paducah.

SECTION 2. The City Manager shall advertise for sealed bids by posting a
notice at the City Hall door and by inserting notice of the request for bids in the
Sun -Democrat for not less than seven days nor more than twenty-one days before
the opening of same. All bids shall be sealed and no bid shall be received after
the hour fixed in the notice for the opening of same. All bids received by the
City Manager up to the time fixed for the opening of same shall be filed with the
Board of Commissioners who may let a contract to the best responsible bidder,
and the Board of Commissioners shall reserve the right to reject any and all bids
and the City shall not become legally obligated to enter into a contract for said work
until the adoption of an ordinance authorizing same.
SECTION 3. This resolution shall be in full force and effect from and
after its adoption.
