HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance Book 18, Page 649, No Resolution NumberA RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE FILING OF APPLICATION FOR TRANSITION URBAN RENEWAL FUNDS FOR PROJECT NO. KY. A-2 AND PROJECT NO. KY. E-2 WHEREAS, under the provisions of Title I of the Housing Act of 1949, as amended, the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development is authorized to provide financial assistance to Local Public Agencies for undertaking and carrying out urban renewal projects; and WHEREAS, it is desirable and in the public interest that the Urban Renewal and Community Development Agency of Paducah, Kentucky, and the Mechanicsburg Code Enforcement Program (herein called collectively the "Local Public Agency") avail themselves of the financial assistance that may be provided, under Title 1 of the Housing Act of 1949, for the purpose of achieving an orderly transition from the present cate- gorical urban renewal programs to block grant programs which may become effective under proposed legislation presently being considered by the Congress of the United States; and WHEREAS, it is recognized that any transition funding assistance grants received by the Local Public Agency will be subject to offset against the City of Paducah's first year entitlement of funds under the proposed legislation now pending before the Congress; and WHEREAS, the Local Public Agency proposes to apply to the Department of Housing and Urban Development for financial assistance for Projects No. Ky. A-2 and Ky. E-2 fo the purpose of achieving an orderly transition from the present categorical projects to a block grant program: NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That the filing of an application by the Local Public Agency for transition funding assistance grants for Projects No. Ky. A-2 and Ky. E-2 is hereby approved. SECTION 2. This resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after the date of its adoption.
