A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS
FOR THE PURCHASE OF ONE TRACK TYPE END LOADER FOR USE IN THE CITY
REFUSE DEPARTMMNT, AND PRESCRIBING THE CONDITIONS UPON WHICH SUCH
PURCHASE SHALL BE MADE
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF
PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby, authorized
to advertise for bids for the purchase of one (1) track type end loader
for use by the City Refuse Department, said track type end loader to
have the following minimum specificationsz
ENGINE•
To be full diesel, six (6) cylinder, four (4) cycle, with a
piston displacement of not less than 516 cubic inches. To have
24 volt direct electric starting system, dry type air cleaner
with service indicator, oil and fuel filters, all standard
gages including hour meter, reversible fan, and dry charged
battery.
TRACKS•
Shoe width shall be a minimum of 18 inches, three (3) bar
semi grouser type. Length of track on the ground shall not be
less than 107 inches. Undercarriage shall have a minimum of
seven (7) rollers (each side) equipped with lifetime lubrication.
TRANSMISSION•
The transmission shall be power -shift, provided at least two (2)
forward and two (2) reverse speeds.
GUARDS: Guards shall be provided for the radiator, crankcase, transmission,
instrument panel, hydraulic hoses, and track frame. Track guards
shall include guards for the drive sprocket and front idler with
the middle five (5) lower rollers left open.
BUCKET:
The bucket shall be what is known as a 4 in 1 or multi-purpose
bucket, with a capacity of not less than 2'h' cubic yards, S.A.E.
RATED, AND COMPLETELY hydraulic controlled. The bucker shall
have eleven (11) cutting teeth and the width shall not be less

than the full eidth of the tractor including the tracks. Dumping
height shall not be less than 147 inches at the hinge pin.
COUNTERWEIGHT:
The loader shall be equipped with a counterweight of sufficient
weight to insure efficient and safe operation.
CAB:
The cab shall be ROPS, weather proof, heavy gage, with safety glass
throughout, and shall be equipped with a heater, electric windshield
wipers, and defrosters. The cab shall meet or exceed all O.S.H.A.
regulations for safety.
WEIGHT:
The loader including the 4 in 1 bucket shall not weigh less than
47,000 pounds.
GENERAL:
The loader shall be equipped with a vandalism kit, rain cap,
and front lights.
Each bidder shall state the amount he will accept in cash for
the purchase price of the track type end loader he offers for sale,
and also the amount to be allowed by accepting as trade-in one 1967
Model 955K Caterpillar track type end loader, said end loader may be
inspected on request at the City Garage, 919 Madison Street, Paducah,
Kentucky.
Bach bidder shall state in his bid the popular name and model
upon which he bids, and if requested will exhibit at the City Hall to
the City Officials a similar type track type end loader of the model
bid upon with the equipment offered, and each bid must state the
length of time required for delivery after a contract is awarded.
Bidders shall also submit with their bid, the latest printed specifi-
cations and advertising literature on the unit they propose to furnish.
Each bidder shall also be prepared to give a complete demonstration
of the merits of the machine offered. The machine so demonstrated
shall be complete as offered by the bidder for this bid. The track
type end loader offered shall be a new current production model or a
current production model demonstrator with not more than 1000 hours
on the hour meter. All demonstrator equipment shall carry a new
machine warranty.

SECTION 2. The City Manager shall advertise for sealed bids
by notice posted at the City Hall door and by publication pursuant to
KRS Chapter 424. No bid shall be opened within ten days from the date
on which the resolution is adopted, and no bid shall be received after
the hour fixed for the opening of bids. All bids received by the
City Manager up to the time for opening of same shall be filed with
the Board of Commissioners who may let a contract to the lowest
responsible bidder. The City shall have the right to refuse and
reject any and all bids.
SECTION 3. That this resolution shall be in full force and effect
from and after its adoption.
