AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 25-1 OF CHAPTER 25 "POLICE" OF THE CODE
OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH,
KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1, That Section 25-1 Number, rank and salaries of members of
Department be amended and reordained to read as follows:
"Section 25-1 Number, rank and salaries of members of department.
(a) The number and rank of members of the police department of the City
of Paducah and their monthly salaries, provided said salaries are not changed by any
annual apportionment ordinance hereafter adopted, shall be as follows:

(b) The first assistant chief, night assistant chief and chief of detectives shall
be paid at the rate of $870.00 per month until such time as he has completed seventeed
years of service with the city; at the expiration of seventeen years and until he has served
with the city for a total of twenty years he shall be paid at the rate of $875.00 per month;
and at the expiration of twenty years of service he shall be paid at the rate of $880.00
per month.
(c) Captains shall be paid at the rate of $745.00 per month until they have
served with the city for fourteen years; at the expiration of fourteen years they shall be
paid at the rate of $750.00 per month; at the expiration of seventeen years they shall be
paid at the rate of $755.00 per month; and for all months of service after twenty years
they shall be paid at the rate of $760.00 per month.
(d) Sergeants shall be paid at the rate of $695.00 per month for all service
through elevan years with the city; at the expiration of eleven years the rate of pay shall
be $700.00 per month; at the expiration of fourteen years of service the rate of pay shall be
$705.00 per month; at the expiration of seventeen years of service, and for all service
thereafter the rate of pay shall be 5710.00 per month.

(e) Policemen shall be paid at the rate of $570.00 per month for the first
six months; at the expiration of six months of service with the city the rate of pay shall
be $615.00 per month; at the end of one year of service the rate of pay shall be $625.00
per month; at the end of the second year of service the rate of pay shall be $635.00 per
month; for all service between the third and fifth years the rate of pay shall be $645.00
per month; for service between the fifth and eighth years the rate of pay shall be $650.00
per month; for all service between the eighth and eleventh years the rate of pay shall be
$655.00 per month; for service between the eleventh and fourteenth years the rate of pay
shall be $660.00 per month; and for all service beyond fourteen years the rate of pay shall
be $665.00 per month.
(f) A policeman assigned to a two -wheel motorcycle for patrol shall receive
the additional sum of one dollar and twenty-five cents ($1.25) per day on any day he
patrols with or operates a motorcycle in excess of two hours.
(g) All members of the department shall receive an initial clothing allowance
of $125.00 and in the event such member shall fail to serve in the department for more
than seventy-five days, all clothing purchased with the initial clothing allowance shall
be returned to the department.
Any policeman who is assigned to motorcycle patrol duty on one-third of his
duty days shall, after his first nine months of such duty, receive an additional clothing
allowance of $100.00; thereafter as he continues such duty he shall receive an annual
$100.00 extra clothing allowance, which shall be paid on the anniversary date of the first
extra allowance; provided, however, that if said date is nearer than three months to the
date of the payment of the regular annual clothing allowance, the extra clothing allowance
shall be paid three months before or after the regular date, whichever is nearer.
(h) All policemen shall be paid an annual supplementary expense allowance
for uniforms, meals, etc., in the amount of $360.00. Such sums shall be paid in
quarterly installments of $90.00 each on March 31, June 30, September 30 and December 31,
and shall accrue at the rate of $30.00 per month. For the purposes of calculating a month,
full credit shall be given after the fifteenth day. The expense allowances shall be paid
on non -payroll checks, and shall not be subject to any deductions, except as may be
required for taxes.
SECTION 2. Section 1 amends Section 1 of Ordinance No. 73-6-839 adopted
June 26, 1973.
� SECTION 3. Any member of the Paducah Police Department whose initial

clothing allowance was deducted from the monthly allowance provided for in Section

25-1 (h) shall be reimbursed any amounts so deducted.
SECTION 4. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and
after January 7, 1974.
