HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance Book 18, Page 261, No Resolution Number261 N' A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR THE RECONSTRUCTION OF BUCKNER LANE FROM VINE STREET TO COUNTRY CLUB LANE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby, authorized to advertise for bids for the reconstruction of Buckner Lane from Vine Street to Country Club Lane, including curb, gutter, pavement and drainage improvements, said invitation for bids to be as follows: ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS 1 .1 .01 RECEIPT OF PROPOSALS: The City of Paducah, Kentucky will receive bids for the construction of Buckner Lane until 2:00 p.m. on the _day of , 1973, at the office of the City Manager, City Hall, Paducah, Kentucky, at which time all bids will be publicly opened in the Commission Chamber of City Hall and read aloud. 1 .1 .02 PROJECT: The project consists of reconstruction of the section of Buckner Lane from Vine Street to Country Club Lane and will include curb, gutter, pavement and drainage improvements. 1.1 .03 OBTAINING CONTRACT DOCUMENTS: Plans and specifications are on file at the office of the City Engineer, City Hall, Paducah, Kentucky, and at the office of the Associated General Contractors, Paducah, Kentucky. Copies of plans and specifications may be obtained at the office of the City Engineer. A deposit of $50.00 will be required for each set of documents obtained. The deposit of all those returning usable plans and specifications within ten (10) days after the bid opening will be refunded in full. Those not returning the documents within this period of time or returning unusable documents shall forfeit their full deposit. 1 .1 .04 PROPOSAL GUARANTY: A satisfactory Bid Bond executed by the bidder and acceptable sureties in an amount equal to five percent (5%) of the bid shall be submitted with each bid. 1 .l .05 PERFORMANCE BOND AND LABOR AND MATERIAL BOND: The successful bidder will be required to furnish and pay for satisfactory Performance Bond and Labor and Material Payment Bond - each in the amount of one hundred percent (1000) of the Contract, as provided for in the specifications. 1.1.06 WAGE RATES: Attention is called to the fact that not less than the minimum salaries and wages as set forth in the Contract Documents must be paid on this project, and that the Contractor must ensure that employees and applicants for employment are not discriminated against because of their race, color, religion, sex or national origin. 1 .1 .07 OWNER'S RIGHTS RESERVED: The City of Paducah reserves the right to reject any or all bids or waive any informalities in the bidding. No bid shall be withdrawn for a period of thirty (30) days subsequent to the opening of bids without the consent of the City of Paducah. CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY By: J. William Howerton City Manager 262 SECTION 2. The City Manager shall advertise for sealed bids by notice posted at the City Hall door and by publication pursuant to KRS Chapter 424. No bid shall be opened within ten days from the date on which the resolution is adopted, and no bid shall be received after the hour fixed for the opening of bids. All bids received by the City Manager up to the time for opening of same shall be filed with the Board of Commissioners who may let a contract to the best responsible bidder. The City shall have the right to refuse and reject any and all bids. SECTION 3. This resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption.
