A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AN
INTERLOCAL MUTUAL AID AGREEMENT
WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners of the City of Paducah, Kentucky,
recognize that it is necessary to provide for the safety, health and welfare of the
residents of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, by the provision of Emergency Medical
Services, and
WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners of the City of Paducah, Kentucky
desires to promote the safety, health and welfare of the residents of the City of Paducah,
Kentucky, by entering into a mutual aid agreement with adjacent, adjoining and
neighboring units of government to help provide Emergency Medical Services, and
WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners of the City of Paducah, Kentucky,
desires to assist the units of local government of adjacent, adjoining and neighboring
counties in cases of disaster or emergency by providing emergency medical equipment
to the extent needed and available,
Now therefore, the Board of Commissioners of the City of Paducah, Kentucky,
in order to carry out it's desires to assist and receive assistance in a disaster or
emergency, does hereby adopt the following resolution.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF TIME CITY OF
PADUCAH,KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES
As used in this resolution, the term "Emergency Medical Services" shall
include the services utilized in responding to the perceived individual need for
immediate medical care in order to prevent loss of life or aggravation of physiological
or phychological illness or injury. The services may include, but are not limited to,
personnel, vehicles, usually in the form of ambulances, and other related equipment
and supplies for medical emergencies.
SECTION 2. MUTUAL AID AGREEMENT
The Mayor of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, with the prior approval
of the Hoard of Commissioners of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, shall have the
authority to enter into mutual aid agreements with adjacent, adjoining, and
neighboring units of government to provide for mutual aid and assisdurca for the
public safety, health rind welfare of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, in cane of n
bituatif:n requiring F,mr•rgency Medical Services.
SECTION 3. EMERGENCY PROVISIONS
This Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency measure necessary
for the immediate preservation of the public health, safety and welfare: and it shall
take effect immediately. A complete and adequate Emergency Medical Services plan
will be formulated based upon the needs and desires of the Jackson Purchase Region,
the Kentucky Emergency Medical Services plan, mutual aid agreements, and the
Region's ability to finance the operation.
SECTION 4. EFFECTIVE DATE
This resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after the date of its
adoption.
