AN ORDINANCE AM2NDING SECTION 1 OF AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED "AN
ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING THE NUMBER, RANKS AND MONTHLY SALARIES OF THE
POLICE DEPARTMENT, AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH",
WHICH WAS ADOPTED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS ON AUGUST 5, 1952,
AND LAST AMENDED ON DECEMBER 9, 1969
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF
PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That Section 1 of an ordinance containing the title
quoted above, which was adopted on August 5, 1952, and last amended on
December 9, 1969, be, and the same is hereby amended and reordained so
that said section as amended and reordained shall read as follows:

"SECTION 1. The number and rank of members of the Police
Department of the City of Paducah and their monthly salaries, provided
said salaries are not changed by any annual apportionment ordinance
hereafter adopted, shall be as follows:

The First Assistant Chief shall be paid at the rate of $730.00 per
month until such time as he has completed 17 years of service with the
City; at the expiration of 17 years and until he has served with the
City for a total of 20 years he shall be paid at the rate of $735.00
per month, and at the expiration of 20 years of service he shall be
paid at the rate of $740.00 per month.
The Second Assistant Chief shall be paid at the rate of $675.00
per month until such time as he has completed 17 years of service with
the City; at the expiration of 17 years of service he shall be
paid at the rate of $680.00 per month, and at the expiration of 20
years of service he shall be paid at the rate of $685.00 per month.

The Chief of Detectives shall be paid at the same rate as the
Second Assistant Chief of Police.
Captain shall be paid at the rate of $620.00 per month until he
has served with the City for 14 years; at the expiration of 14 years
he shall be paid at the rate of $625.00 per month; at the expiration of
17 years he shall be paid at the rate of $630.00 per month, and for all
months of service after 20 years he shall be paid at the rate of $635.00
per month.
Sergeants shall be paid at the rate of $570.00 per month for all
service through 11 years with the City; at the expiration of 11 years
the rate of pay shall be $575.00 per month; at the expiration of 14 years
of service the rate of pay shall be $580.00 per month; at the expiration
of 17 years of service, and for all service thereafter, the rate of pay
shall be $585.00 per month.
Policemen shall be paid at the rate of $480.00 per month for the
first six months; at the expiration of six months of service with the
City the rate of pay shall be $490.00 per month; at the end of one
year of service the rate of pay shall be $500.00 per month; at the end of
the second year of service the rate of pay shall be $510.00 per month;
for all service between the third and fifth years, the rate of pay shall
be $520.00 per month; for service between the 5th and 8th year, the rate
of pay shall be $525.00 per month; for all service between the 8th and
11th year the rate of pay shall be $530.00 per month; for service between
the 11th and 14th year, the rate of pay shall be $535.00 per month, and
for all service beyond 14 years the rate of pay shall be $540.00 per
month.
The permanent positions for captain shall be five (5) and for
sergeants fifteen (15). The increase to nine captain is due to the
elimination of the rank of lieutenant and the promotion to rank of
captain of the officer currently in charge of records and identification.
As any captain vacancy offurs, or the record and identification captain
is reassigned or otherwise leaves a vacancy, such vacancies shall be
filled by those holding the rank of sergeant until the authorized
number shall again be five (5) captains and fifteen (15) sergeants.
A policeman assigned to a two -wheel motorcycle for patrol shall
receive the additional sum of $1.25 per day on any day he patrols with
or operates a motorcycle in excess of two hours.

Any policeman who is assigned to motorcycle patrol duty on one-
third of his duty days shall, after his first nine months of such duty,
receive an additional clothing allowance of $100.00, thereafter as he
continues such duty he shall receive an annual $100.00 extra clothing
allowance, which shall be paid on the anniversary date of the first
extra allowance, provided, however, that if said date is nearer than
three months to the date of the payment of the regular annual clothing
allowance, the extra clothing allowance shall be paid three months
before or after the regular date, whichever is nearer."
,SECTION 2. All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith are, to the extent of such conflict, hereby repealed.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall be retroactively effective as of
April 1, 1970.
