A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO FILE AN APPLICATION FOR A
GRANT FOR SEWAGE TREATMENT WORK
WHEREAS, 33 U.S. Code 466 et seq., as amended, provides for the
making of grants to localities for the development of sewage treatment
work pursuant to the requirements of the Water Pollution Control
Administration; and
WHEREAS, the City of Paducah is undertaking to provide secondary
sewage treatment facilities as are now required to meet water pollution
control standards, and
WHEREAS, it is recognized that a contract for Federal grant
will impose certain obligations and responsibilities upon the City of
Paducah, and will require various assurances of compliance with the
Civil Rights Act of 1964, compliance with Federal labor standards,
and compliance with Federal requirements relating to equal employment
opportunity, and compliance with relocation requirements for any
displaced individuals; and
WHEREAS, the total estimated cost for development and con-
struction of the secondary sewage treatment facility will be
$1,617,000.00; and
WHEREAS, the Federal Government and the State Government will
both be requested to participate in the funding of the cost of the
project,
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE
CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That an application be made for Federal grant
for sewage treatment work under 33 U.S.C? 466 et. seq., to construct and
develop a secondary waste water treatment facility, including aeration,
basin, final clarifiers, chlorine contact chamber, one additional
primary clarifier and appurtenant structures, which grant to be requested
to be in the amount of $889,400.00 and that the City will seek an
additional portion of funding from the Commonwealth of Kentucky, and
pay the balance of the cost from other funds available to it.
SECTION 2. That the Mayor is hereby authorized and directed
to execute and file such application and to provide additional infor-
mation and to furnish such documents as may be required from time to
time and to generally act as the authorized correspondent of the City
of Paducah.

SECTION 3. That the proposed project is in accordance with
plans and requirements of the Federal and State Water Pollution Control
Agency.
SECTION 4. That the United States of America be, and it is
hereby assured of full compliance by the Applicant with the regulations
Of all departments involved or to be involved with the grant sought,
and that the City of Paducah will comply with the provisions of the
Civil Rights Act of 1964.
SECTION 5. That the United States of America be, and it is
hereby, assured Of full compliance by the City of Paducah with the
Federal labor standards imposed for projects to be developed with
Federal grants.
SECTION 6. This resolution shall be in full force and effect
from and after its adoption.
