A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS
FOR ONE (1) BRUSHCHIPPER FOR USE IN THE PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT, AND
PRESCRIBING THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS UPON WHICH SUCH PURCHASE SHALL BE
MADE
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF
PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby, requested
and authorized to advertise for bids for the purchase of one brush -
chipper machine for use in the Public Works Department, which
equipment shall have the following specifications:
12" heavy duty model chipping machine for mulching brush, which
equipment will contain the following:
POWER UNIT
Industrial 6 cylinder, 300 cubic inch gasoline engine with
horsepower rating of 150 at 2800 RPM or better
TRAILER
(a) Low carbon high tensile 6" steel frame welded construction
(b) Telescoping draw bar with eye attachment
(c) Drop stand with steady rest
(d) 5,000 lb. Capacity. Two (2) seven leaf springs
(e) Fenders and hub caps
(f) Axle: 2" x 2" x 68"
(g) 2 - drop center wheels - 15" diameter 7:00 x 15, 6 ply tires
(h) Combination tail light, stop light and license holder.
CHIPPING UNIT
(a) Safety chain - two 5/16" coil chain with safety snap
(b) lli" dynamically balanced cylinder
(c) 12" cylinder.
(d) 4 hi -carbon, hi -chrome special alloy blades
(e) Rotor speed 3000 RPM or greater
(f) Rotoe shaft 1144-c strain, tempered alloy steel 3" diameter
(g) Maximum blade setting 7/16"
(h) Bearings: Double row spherical roller, self -aligning. Each
bearing to have basic dynamic load rating of 29,500 Lbs. or
more
(i) Feed opening minimum 10" x 124"
(j) Blower: Large capacity, high -efficiency, squirrel type.

Each bidder shall state the amount he will accept in cash for the
sale to the City of the described and specified property, including
any and all applicable taxes and delivery cost, and each bidder shall
state the approximate amount of time for delivery of the equipment
from date of contract. Each bidder shall state all guarantees available
for the equipment bid upon.
Bids may be held by the City of Paducah for a period not to exceed
thirty days from the date of opening of bids for the purpose of revilewing
the bids, investigating qualifications of the bidder and to insure that
all specifications may be met.
The City of Paducah reserves the right to reject any and all
bids or to waive informalities in the bidfing, and the City shall
not be obligated to purchase any equipment until the passage of an
ordinance accepting the bid of the successful bidder and until a contract
has been let.
SECTION 2. The City Manager shall advertise for sealed bids by
notice posted up at the City Hall door and by publication pursuant to
KRS Chapter 424. No bid shall be opened within ten days from the
date on which the resolution is adopted, and no bid shall be received
after the hour fixed for the opening of bids. All bids received by
the City Manager up to the time for opening of same shall be filed
with the Board of Commissioners who may let a contract to the lowest
responsible bidder.
SECTION 3. This resolution shall be in full force and effect
from and after its adoption.
