ORDINANCE NO. 72-2-609
AN ORDINANCE CREATING AND ESTABLISHING A PARKS AND RECREATION
DEPARTMENT FOR THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, CREATING POSITIONS THEREIN
AND FIXING SALARIES THEREOF
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF
PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That there is hereby created and established
for the City of Paducah, Kentucky, a Parks and Recreation Department
to provide, equip, maintain and conduct the public parks, playgrounds
and recreation centers of said City. Said department shall be under
the supervision of a Director of Parks and Recreation, who is charged
with the responsibility and duty of supervising said department,
subject to the orders, control and direction of the Board of Commissioners
of the said City.
SECTION 2. (a) That in order to perform the duties of said
department, there is hereby created the following positions of
employment at the rate of pay specified:

Recreation Supervisor 660.00
Assistant Recreation Supervisor 505.00

Hourly Rate
Part time patrolman (2 positions) 2.45
Equipment Operator 3.03
Maintenance Man No. 2 (4 positions) 2.83
Shop Mechanic 3.03
Temporary and Seasonal Laborers 2.00
(b) The secretary shall be paid at the rate of $400.00 per month
for the first six months of employment, at the expiration of six months
$410.00; at the expiration of one year $420.00; and at the expiration
of two years $431.00, such increases to be made upon recommendation of the
City Manager.

(c) The equipment operator shall be paid at the rate of $3.03
per hour for the first six months of employment, and at the expiration
of six months the rate of pay shall be increased to $3.08 per hour,
such increase to be made upon recommendation of the City Manager.
(d) The No. 2 Maintenance Man shall be paid at the rate of $2.83
per hour for the first six months of employment, and at the expiration
of six months the rate of pay shall be increased to $2.88 per hour,
such increase to be made upon recommendation of the City Manager.
(e) The Shop Mechanic shall be paid at the rate of $3.03 per
hour for the first six months of employment, and at the expiration of
six months the rate of pay shall be increased to $3.08 per hour, such
increase to be made upon recommendation of the City Manager.
SECTION 3. Upon recommendation of the City Manager, the Board
of Commissioners may, by motion, employ seasonal and temporary
employees to be paid at comparable rates based upon the position and
responsibility involved, such compensation to be fixed by the motion
authorizing the employment.
SECTION 4. The Director of Parks and Recreation, as part of
his compensation, shall have the free use and occupancy of the
residence at Noble Park owned by the City, with all utilities in
connection therewith, furnished by the City.
SECTION 5. All ordinances and parts of ordinances, in conflict
herewith are, to the extent of such conflict, hereby repealed.
SECTION 6. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect
on and after 12:01 a.m., February 14, 1972.
