A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS
FOR ONE CURRENT MODEL FOUR WHEEL DRIVE TRUCK FOR USE BY THE FLOODWALL
DEPARTMENT OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF
PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby, authorized
and directed to advertise for bids for one (1) current model four
wheel drive truck for use by the City of Paducah in its Floodwall Depart-
ment, having the specifications as follows:
Wheel Base
The wheel base shall be a minimum of 92 inches and a maximum
of 104 inches.
Engine
Minimum requirements shall be six cylinder, 105 Gross Horse
power at 4200 R.P.M.
Transmission
The transmission shall manual shift three (3) forward and
one (1) reverse.
Transfer Case
The transfer case shall be two speed with neutral for operation
of a power take off.
Axles
The front and rear axles shall be of sufficient size and gear
ratio to accommodate limited slip or positraction axles in the front
and positraction or tractionlox axles in the rear.
Front Hubs
Front wheels shall be equipped with free -wheeling or free -running
manually controlled hubs.
Instruments
Instruments shall include speedometer, fuel gauge, oil pressure
gauge, engine temperature gauge and ammeter.
Direction Signals
The vehicle shall be equipped with two (3) front and two (2) rear
direction indicator lights and shall have an emergency flasher switch.
Windshiels Wipers
Windshield wipers shall be two (2) speed electric and, equipped
with windshield washer attachments.

Heater and Defrosters
The vehicle shall be equipped -with a fresh air heater and defroster.
Seats
The front seal shall be a full width bench type seat, if available.
If not available the cab shall be equipped with two single seats. No
rear seat is required.
Auxiliary Top
The vehicle shall be equipped with a metal or fiberglass top
covering the full length from the windshield to the tail gate.
Tires and Wheels
Tires shall be a minimum of 8.25 x 15 four ply, black sidewall with
mud and snow tread. Wheels shall be 15 x 5�- Five tires and wheels shall
be furnished.
Spare Tire Carrier
If available the spare tire carrier shall be mounted on the.tail gate
outside of the load space.
Power Winch
Each bidder is asked to quote optional price for installation of
a front mounted winch, capable of being operated from inside the cab or
from control levers on the winch. The winch shall be driven by a power
take off from the transmission or the transfer case.
Color
Color shall be off white.
Delivery
Each bidder shall state the time of delivery after receipt of
the contract. Failure to meet the delivery date could be grounds for
cancellation of the contract.
Special Instructions
In order that we might make a fair evaluation of the bids, each bidder
shall state the price of the vehicle with standard equipment and itemize any
and all optional equipment asked for in these specifications. If any of
the requested equipment is not available it should be listed by name and
labeled unavailable. Each bidder shall state the price offered for the
trade-in. Failure to comply with special instructions could be grounds for
rejecting the bid.

Offered for trade-in is one (1) 1960 model, four (4) wheel drive,
six (6) cylinder Chevrolet one-half (Z) ton pick-up truck. Model K-1404,
Serial No. OK144S10893. Trade-in may be seen at the Flood Control
office located at 2000 South 4th Street.
SECTION 2. The City Manager shall advertise for sealed bids by
posting a notice at the City Hall door and by inserting notice of the
request for bids in the Paducah Sun -Democrat to be published not less
than seven nor more than twenty-one days before the date fixed for the
opening of bids. All bids shall be sealed and no bid shall be received
after the hour fixed in the notice for the opening of same. All bids
received by the City Manager up to the time fixed in the notice for the
opening of same shall be filed with the Board of Commissioners who may
let a contract to the lowest and best bidder, and the Board of Com-
missioners shall reserve the right to reject any and -all bids,.and
the City shall not become legally obligated to any bidder until the
adoption of an ordinance authorizing the execution of a purchase contract.
SECTION 3. This resolution shall be in full force and effect
from and after its adoption.
