ORDINANCE NO. 71-6-481
AN ORDINANCE REPEALING AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED "AN ORDINANCE
CREATING A FRANCHISE OR PRIVILEGE TO CONSTRUCT, OPERATE AND MAINTAIN
TELEVISION SIGNALS, LINES AND APPURTENANCES UPON, ALONG, ACROSS, OVER
AND UNDER THE STREETS, ALLEYS AND PUBLIC WAYS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH,
KENTUCKY, PROVIDING THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS THEREFOR, AND PROVIDING
FOR THE SALE OF SAID FRANCHISE OR PRIVILEGE", WHICH ORDINANCE WAS
ADOPTED APRIL 17, 1956, AND REPEALING AND REVOKING THE FRANCHISE
GRANTED PURSUANT THERETO TO MIDWEST VIDEO CORPORATION AS AUTHORIZED
BY RESOLUTION ADOPTED MAY 22, 1956
WHEREAS, a franchise as styled above was created on April 17,
1956, and
WHEREAS, the bid of Midwest Video Corporation for such
franchise was accepted by resolution adopted May 22, 1956, and
WHEREAS, Midwest Video Corporation did establish a cable
television service in the City of Paducah, Kentucky, pursuant to the
terms and conditions of the said franchise, and
WHEREAS, the franchiseashortly thereafter discontinued all
such service and removed all plant and equipment from the Paducah
area and has provided no service under the terms of the franchise
for more than twelve years, and
WHEREAS, it was the intention of the Board of Commissioners`:of
the City of Paducah to grant a franchise only to one that would install
and maintain and continue the service provided for in the franchise, and
WHEREAS, this Board now finds that the said Midwest Video
Corporation or its successors and assigns have failed to provide such
service and have abandoned all rights pursuant thereto,
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF
THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That the ordinance bearing the title quoted above
be, and the same is hereby, repealed.
SECTION 2. That the resolution accepting the bid of Midwest
Video Corporation in the sum of $1,000.00 for the sale of a television
signal franchise and tentatively granting such franchise to Midwest
Video Corporation, which resolution was adopted May 22, 1956, and any
and all contracts, agreements and franchises granted and executed

pursuant thereto, are hereby declared to be abandoned, revoked and
null and void.
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect
from and after its adoption.
