A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE
FOR BIDS FOR ONE (1) NEW 1971 MODEL ONE-HALF TON PICK-UP TRUCK FOR USE
AT THE SEWAGE TREATMENT PLANT IN THE CITY OF PADUCAH, AND PRESCRIBING
THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS UPON WHICH SUCH PURCHASE SHALL BE MADE
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF
PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby, authorized
and directed to advertise for bids for one (1) new 1971 Model one-half
ton pick-up truck for use at the sewage treatment plant in the City of
Paducah, Kentucky, said truck to have the following minimum specifications:
Wheel Base and Cargo Box
The wheel base shall be a minimum of 127 inches. The cargo box shall
be a minimum of 96 inches in length, 65 inches minimum in width and shall
be a Styleside or Fleetside model.
Engine
The engine shall be a minimum of six (6) cylinder and rated at no
less than 140 gross horsepower. The engine shall be equipped with air
and oil filters.
Transmission
Manual three -speed standard.
Axles
Front axle shall be standard. Rear axles shall be semi -floating,
Positraction or Limited -slip.
Rear Springs
Rear springs shall be 1250 lbs rated at the pad.
Instruments
Instruments shall include ammeter, oil pressure gage and engine
temperature gage.
Directional Signals
The vehicle shall be equipped with automatic cancelling direction
signals and shall have a four (4) way emergency flasher switch.
Windshield Wipers
Windshield wipers shall be two (2) speed electric with windshield
washing attachments.
Heater
The vehicle shall be equipped with a fresh air heater and defrosters.

Tires
The vehicle shall be equipped with G 78 15 B 4 -ply tube type tires,
mud and snow tires on rear, highway tread on front. Included shall be
one (1) mounted spare. The spare tire shall be highway tread.
Bumpers
The front bumper shall be standard. The rear bumper shall be heavy
duty, with a covered top for a step plate and provisions for a trailer
hitch.
Color
Color shall be off-white, but other colors may be acceptable to the
City at the discretion of the City.
Special Instructions
In order that the City can make a fair evaluation of the bids, each
bidder is requested to state the price of his vehicle with standard equip-
ment and itemize any and all optional equipment requested in these
specifications.
It is requested that each bidder submit his bid indicating his price
of the equipment with a trade-in allowance and also, without a trade-in
allowance. Bids shall include or refer to all applicable taxes.
Trade-in
Offered for trade-in is one (1) 1962 International Model C-102
pick-up truck. Serial No. SB -223178 A. Motor No. BD -220 765895. Trade-in
may be seen at the Paducah Sewage Treatment Plant, 6th and Northview
Streets, Paducah, Kentucky.
Delivery
Each bidder shall state the time of delivery after receipt of the
purchase contract. Failure to meet delivery date could be grounds for
cancellation of the contract.
Guarantee
Each bidder shall furnish the City with factory specifications
relative to his equipment and information as to all applicable guarantees.
SECTION 2. The City Manager shall advertise for sealed bids
by notice posted up at the City Hall door and by publication pursuant
to KRS Chapter 424. No bids shall be opened within ten days from
the date on which the resolution is adopted, and no bid shall be

received after the hour fixed for the opening of bids. All bids
received by the City Manager up to the time for opening of same
shall be filed with the Board of Commissioners who may let a contract
to the lowest responsible bidder. The City shall have the right to
refuse and reject any and all bids.
SECTION 3. This resolution shall be in full force and effect
from and after its adoption.
