A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS
FOR ONE (1) 1971 TRUCK WITH COMPACTOR AND FOR STATIONARY CONTAINERS
FOR USE IN THE REFUSE DIVISION OF THE PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT OF THE
CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY, AND PRESCRIBING THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS
UPON WHICH SUCH PURCHASE SHALL BE MADE
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF
PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby, requested
and authorized to advertise for bids for the purchase of the following
equipment for use in the refuse division of the Public Works Department
of the City of Paducah, Kentucky:
One (1) 1971 model truck with tilt cab with one (1) mounted
compaction unit with a capacity of approximately 25 cubic yards and
equipped with loading arms for emptying stationary containers and
for an unspecified number of 2 and 3 cubic yard stationary containers,
and approximately 50 each of 6 and 8 cubic yard containers, according
to the specifications compiled by and for the refuse division of the
Public Works Department of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, and as have
been received and filed by this Commission with the Minutes of this
Meeting on March 26, 1971, and in so advertising he will use substantially
the following form:
"INVITATION FOR BIDS
"The City of Paducah, Kentucky, will receive bids for the sale
to the City of one (1) 1971 model truck with tilt cab with one (1)
mounted compaction unit with a capacity of approximately 25 cubic yards
and equipped with loading arms for emptying stationary containers,
and for an unspecified number of 2 and 3 cubic yard stationary
containers, and approximately 59 each of 6 and 8 cubic yard containers,
for use in the refuse division of the Public Works Department
of the City of Paducah, Kentucky, until 10 o'clock a.m., on the 12th
day of April, 1971, at City Hall, Commission Chambers, Paducah,
Kentucky, at which time and place all bids will be publicly opened
and read aloud.
"City of Paducah reserves the right to reject any or all
bids and to waive any informalities in the bidding.
"Bids may be held by the City of Paducah for a period not to
exceed thirty days from the date of the opening of bids for the purpose

of receiving the bids, investigating the qualifications of the bidder
and to insure that all specifications may be met.
"Each bidder shall state the amount he will accept in cash
for the purchase of the above described property, and all stationary
units shall be bid on a per unit price, and each bidder shall state as
an alternative purchase plan the amount required for a six month lease
of said equipment with an option to purchase at any time during the
term of the lease.
"Each bidder shall state the amount of time required for delivery
of the specified equipment after execution of a contract, and the
successful bidder must agree to make available to the City of Paducah
and have on hand one spare garbage compaction unit and truck in the
case of a major breakdown of the City's equipment, and to deliver to
the City such back-up equipment within twenty-four hours after notice,
and each bidder shall state the additional cost, if any, for such service.
"The technical specifications may be obtained at the office of
the City Manager at City Hall in Paducah, Kentucky.

SECTION 2. The City Manager shall advertise for sealed bids
by notice posted up at the City Hall door and by publication pursuant
to KRS Chapter 424. No bid shall be opened within ten (10) days from
the date on which the resolution is adopted, and no bid shall be
received after the hour fixed for the opening of bids. All bids
received by the City Manager up to the time for opening of same shall
be filed with the Board of Commissioners who may let a contract to the
lowest responsible bidder. The City shall have the right to refuse and
reject any and all bids.
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect
from and after its adoption.
