A RESOLUTION REQUESTING AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR CONSTRUCTION OF A SWIMMING POOL AND BATH HOUSE
TO BE LOCATED IN NOBLE PARK
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH,
KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby, requested
and authorized to advertise for bids for the construction of a swimming
pool and bath house to be located in Noble Park in the City of Paducah,
Kentucky, according to the plans and specifications prepared by Florence
and Hutcheson, Inc. Consulting Engineers, and in so advertising he will
use substantially the following form:
INVITATION FOR BIDS
The City of Paducah, Kentucky will receive bids for the Noble Park
Pool Facilities Project until 10:00 a.m., C.S.T. on the 5th day of
February, 1971, at City Hall Commission Chambers, Paducah, Kentucky,
at which time and place all bids will be publicly opened and read
aloud.
The project consists of furnishing materials and constructing the
following:
All materials and labor required by the construction of the Noble
Park Pool Facilities, which includes renovation of the existing
bathhouse facility and the installation of a new swimming -pool at
the site of the existing pool and such other work as may be incidental
thereto as listed in the Bid Proposal, or as shown on the Drawings.
Contract Documents, including Drawings and Technical Specifications,
are on file at the office of the City Engineer and at the offices of
Florence and Hutcheson, Inc. Consulting Engineers, 1201 Madison Street,
Paducah, Kentucky.
Copies of the Contract Documents may be obtained by depositing $50.00
with The City of Paducah for each set of documents so obtained.
Each such deposit will be refunded if the Drawings and Contract
Documents are returned in good comdition within ten (10) days after
Bid opening.
A certified check or bank draft, payable to the order of The City of
Paducah, Paducah, Kentucky, negotiable U. S. Government bonds (at
par value), or a satisfactory Bid Bond executed by the Bidder and an
acceptable surety, in an amount equal to five percent (591.) of the
total of Bid shall be submitted with each bid.
Attention is called to the fact that not less than the minimum
salaries and wages as set forth in the Contract Documents must be
aid on this
p project, and that the Contractor must ensure that em-
ployees and applicants for employment are not discriminated against
because of their race, sex, color, or national origin.
The City of Paducah reserves the right to reject any or all Bids or
to waive any informalities in the bidding.
Bids may be held by the City of Paducah for a period not to exceed
sixty (60) days from the date of the opening of Bids for the pur-
pose of reviewing the Bids, investigating the qualifications of
Bidder and insuring that all necessary project approvals are
acquired prior to awarding of the Contract.

SECTION 2. The City Manager shall advertise for sealed bids
by posting a notice at the City Hall door and by inserting notice of the
invitation for bids in the Sun -Democrat to be published at least one time
not less than seven days nor more than twenty-one days before the date
fixed for the opening of bids. No bid shall be received after the hour
fixed in the notice for the opening of same. All bids received up to the
time fixed in the notice for the opening of same shall be filed with the
Board of Commissioners who may let a contract to the lowest responsible
bidder. Said Board shall reserve the right to reject any and all bids,
to waive informalities in the bidding, and the City shall not become legally
obligated to any bidder until the adoption of an ordinance authorizing "
execution of a contract.
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect
from and after its adoption.
