HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances Book 17, Page 379, No Resolution Number379 A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR FURNISHING THE CITY OF PADUCAH WITH UNIFORMS FOR THE REFUSE DEPARTMENT PERSONNEL BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY: iWo SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby, authorized to advertise for bids for furnishing the City of Paducah, Kentucky, with uniforms for the Refuse Division personnel of said City as follows: The successful bidder will furnish uniforms as follows: 1. Five (5) new uniforms for each of approximately 30 employees, so as to provide each employee with two changes per week. Material shall be 65/ dacrom - 35/ cotton or equal. Color to be selected by the City Manager. 2. Each uniform shall have two insignias - employee's name on right side and "Refuse Division" on the left side. 3. Pickup and delivery shall be made at least once each week, so that at all times there will be 2 uniforms in process of being laundered, 2 uniforms at the Refuse Division and one uniform on the employee. 4. No mutilated uniforms are to be used, and all clothing mutilated to the extent of requiring extensive patching or cross-stitching to repair shall be replaced with new articles. 5. When each employee is measured for uniforms, he may choose either coveralls or pants and shirts. Uniforms shall be identified so that each employee will get his own clothes each week. 6. The period of time for furnishing the City with such uniforms and uniform service shall be for a period of one (1) year from the date of the contract to be executed by the city upon the adoption of an ordinance authorizing the execution of same. 380 SECTION 2. The City Manager sh611 advertise for sealed bids by posting a notice at the City Hall door and by inserting notice of the request for bids in the Sun Democrat as provided for by law. All bids shall be sealed and no bid shall be received after the hour fixed in the notice for the opening of same. All bids received by the City Manager up to the time fixed in the notice for the opening of same shall be filed with the Board of Commissioners who may let a contract to the lowest and best bidder, and the Board of commis- sioners shall reserve the right to reject any and all bids and the City shall not become legally obligated to purchase said services until the adoption of an ordinance authorizing the execution of a purchase contract. SECTION 3.
