A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS
FOR FOUR (4) DUMP TRUCKS FOR USE IN THE STREET DEPARTMENT, AND PRESCRIBING
THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS UPON WHICH SUCH PURCHASE SHALL BE MADE
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF
PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby, authorized
and directed to advertise for bids for the purchase by the City of
four, dump trucks for use by the Street Department, having the
following specifications:
Wheel Base
139 to 146 inch wheel base, 72 inch cab to rear axle.
Bed
Size, 108 x 78 inches, four (4) cubic yard capacity
(water level), equipped with seven (7) inch diameter
hydraulic cylinder and one-half cab guard.
G.V.W. Rating
G.V.W. Rating shall be a minimum of 24,000 pounds.
Front Suspension
Axle, 7000 pound minimum capacity. Springs, 3500 pound
minimum capacity
Rear Suspension
Axle, single speed 17,000 pound minimum capacity. Springs,
11,500 pound minimum capacity and equipped with overloads.
Motor
185 minimum gross horsepower V type gasoline engine.
Transmission
Five (5) speed transmission.
Brakes
Increased capacity, vacuum over hydraulic with booster.
Frame
Heavy duty outer frame reinforcements.
Wheels and Tires
Wheels shall be cast spoke type. Tires shall be 9:00 x 20
10 ply 100 level tires and tubes. Four (4) mounted spare tires
and wheels shall be furnished for the four (4) trucks.
Clutch
Heavy duty thirteen (13) inch.
Electrical
Forty-two (42) ampere alternator.
Gages
Ameter, heat indicator, oil pressure and fuel gages shall
be installed.

Color
Omaha Orange and Black as specified by the purchaser.
General
West coast type rear view mirrors, one each side. Fresh air type
heater and defrosters. Front and rear mounted turn indicators
equipped with hazard switch. Dual electric, two (2) speed
electric windshield wipers. Front end tow hooks. Mechanical
tachometer R.P.M. Governer.
SECTION 2. Each bidder shall state the amount he will accept in
cash for the purchase of the four (4) trucks described above. Each
bidder must bid upon all four (4) trucks as a unit and no split bid
will be considered.

required for delivery after the execution of a purchase contract.
SECTION 3. The City Manager shall advertise for sealed bids
by posting a notice at the City Hall door and by inserting notice of
the request for bids in the Sun -Democrat to be published not less than
seven days nor more than twenty-one days before the date fixed for the
opening.of bids. All bids shall be sealed and no bid shall be received
after the hour fixed in the notice for the opening of same. All bids
received by the City Manager up to the time fixed in the notice for the
opening of same shall be filed with the Board of Commissioners who may
let a contract to the lowest and best bidder, and the Board of Commission-
ers shall reserve the right to reject any and all bids and the City
shall not become legally obligated to any bidder until the adoption of
an ordinance authorizing the execution of a purchase contract.
SECTION 4. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect

from and after its adoption.
