ORDINANCE NO. 70-10-386
AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT
FOR AMBULANCE SERVICE IN PADUCAH IN MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KENTUCKY,
BETWEEN THE CITY OF PADUCAH AND THE COUNTY OF McCRACKEN AND ANGELS
OF MERCY, INC., AND PRESCRIBING THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS UPON WHICH
SUCH CONTRACT SHALL BE MADE
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF
PADUCAH;KENTUCKY:
SECTION I. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby
authorized to execute on behalf of the City of Paducah, a contract
to provide for ambulance service in the City of Paducah and County
of McCracken between the City of Paducah and County of McCracken and
Angels of Mercy, Inc., said contract to be executed contingent upon
the joint approval and execution by the County of McCracken with
a provision for equal contributions from both governmental bodies,
and said contract shall contain the following provisions:
(a) The contract shall be for one year and may be made
retroactive to but not prior to September 1, 1970;
(b) The Angels of Mercy, Inc. shall comply with all
ordinances of the City of Paducah and all laws of the Commonwealth
of Kentucky;
(c) All employees of Angels of Mercy, Inc. who shall
serve as an ambulance driver or attendant shall possess currently
valid American Red Cross Standard and Advanced Training
Certifications and shall be at least twenty years of age;
(d) All vehicles used for operation of the service
shall not be more than five years old and shall be equipped
with such equipment as may currently be listed on the minimum
equipment list of the Committee on Trauma of the American College
of Surgeons and such other equipment as may be required by
resolution of the Fiscal Court of McCracken County or by
ordinances of the City of Paducah;
(e) At least two trained persons, one driver and one
attendant, shall be carried on each ambulance for each ambulance
call which is covered by the contract;

(f) The service to be rendered for the consideration
hereafter named shall be to respond to all official calls
regarding accidents on all highways, roads, streets and other
such ways for vehicular traffic within the county of McCracken
and city of Paducah;
(g) The consideration to be paid by the City for such
service, which sum is to be matched by the County of McCracken
shall not exceed the sum of $5,000.00.
SECTION 2. The Board hereby finds that an emergency exists,
and this ordinance shall be introduced and read and remain on file for
one week in the completed form in which it shall be put upon its final
passage, and if adopted shall be in full force and effect immediately
thereafter.
