A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE
FOR BIDS FOR AN ASPHALT REPAIR UNIT FOR USE IN THE PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF
PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby,
authorized and directed to advertise for bids for a mobile asphalt
repair unit having the following minimum specifications;
Infra -red type heating hood with 8 foot width
Capacity of 1,200,000 BTU
Heating hood to heat in sections of not more than 10 inches wide
Heating hood shall be capable of adjusting from road surface to
14 inches above road while in horizontal position and shall have
automatic safety latch when in storage or traveling position
Unit shall have storage area for propane tank container and for
tamper or roller with hold down brackets, with electric hoist
for lifting and lowering tamper or roller and propane tanks
Refuse container with slanting bottom
One wacker tamper
One hot mix hopper to contain not less than 3 cubic yards with
double wall and insulated A shaped bottom, and with double doors
on top for loading and with two doors on each side for unloading
mix
Air compressor and tank
Safety equipment including caution light
Step rund on each side
The successful bidder shall be required to install the asphalt
repair unit upon a truck to be delivered by the City or manufacturer to
the bidder, and each bid shall state the price to include all applicable
taxes and delivery of the unit to the City of Paducah: Each bidder shall
bid on the unit separately, but may also submit a bid for the unit to
be mounted upon a truck having the following minimum specifications:
New 1971 model, two ton chassis and cab, comparable to Ford
F-600 Series
330 Cu. In. V 8 engine
4 speed transmission
6 - 825 x 20 - 10 ply tires
9300# main rear springs
2250# auxiliary rear springs
Reinforced frame
3000# front spring
7.2 to 1 - 15,000# single speed rear axle

The total price, if bid upon, shall include all applicable taxes
and shall be f.o.b. Paducah. Each bidder shall state approximate time
required for delivery of the items as bid.
SECTION 2. The City Manager shall advertise for sealed bids by
notice posted up at the City Hall door and by publication pursuant to
ERS Chapter 424. No bid shall be opened within ten days from the date on
which the resolution is adopted, and no bid shall be received after the
hour fixed for the opening of bids. All bids received by the City
Manager up to the time for opening of same shall be filed with the Board
of Commissioners who may let a contract to the lowest responsible bidder.
The City shall have the right to refuse and reject any and all bids.
SECTION 3. This resolution shall be in full force and effect
from and after its adoption.
