A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE AND
FILE AN APPLICATION WITH THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA FOR FEDERAL -
ASSISTANCE FOR PUBLIC WORKS AND FACILITY.TYPE PROJECTS ON BEHALF OF THE
PADUCAH WATER WORKS, FOR EXTENSION -OF VARIOUS WATER MAINS IN THE CITY
OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY
. WHEREAS the City of Paducah is in danger of being regraded for
fire insurance purposes from Class 4 to Class 5 because -of deficiency
points assessed against the city as result of a weak water distribution
system in various areas, and
WHEREAS such change in classification would have a serious economic
effect on the City of Paducah and its residents, and
WHEREAS a comprehensive study by the Paducah Water Works dated
November 1967 identified a need for improvement in various water mains
and extensions to provide sufficient water and water pressure throughout
the City, and
WHEREAS the City of Paducah desires to apply for a Federal grant
of $300,000.00 and the applicant considers the application to be in the
public interest and to be for the benefit of the City to file such
application and to authorize other action in connection therewith,
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE
CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That the Mayor and City Clerk be, and they are hereby,
authorized and directed to execute an application for federal assistance
for public works and facility type projects with the United States of
America for a federal grant of $300,000.00 for various water main
extensions in the City of Paducah, Kentucky.
SECTION 2. That the Mayor be, and he is hereby, authorized to
file any assurances of compliance with federal law or departmental
regulations required for the funding of the said application.
SECTION 3. That in the event the application is funded, the
applicant shall provide for adequate revenue from the distribution of
water in the City of Paducah to provide such funds, in addition to the
grant, as may be required to defray the cost of the applicant's con-
tribution to the public works project.
SECTION 4. That certified copies of this Resolution be included
as part of the application to be submitted to United States.

SECTION 5. That Lee Livingston, Chairman of the Commissioners
of Water Works be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to furnish
such information and take such action as may be necessary to enable
the applicant to qualify for the grant.
SECTION 6. That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect
from and after its adoption.
