A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS
FOR THE PURCHASE OF THREE (3) NEW 1970 FOUR DOOR SEDAN AUTOMOBILES FOR USE
IN THE POLICE DEPARTMENT, AND PRESCRIBING THE CONDITIONS UPON WHICH
SUCH PURCHASE SHALL BE MADE
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF
PADUCAH, KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby, requested
to advertise for bids for the sale to the City of Paducah, Kentucky,
of three new 1970 four door sedan automobiles for use in the Police
Department, having the following specifications:
Minimum Wheel base of 119 inches
Fifteen (15) inch wheels
Full four (4) ply tires - not four ply rating
Power Steering
Air conditioning - factory installed
Police package to be described in detail, to include
a heavy duty alternator with a minimum 65 ampere,
with dual pulley and belts
Seat belts, with automatic rollers for each
Minimum 300 horsepower engine
Color: Beige or off-white
Heavy duty automatic transmission
Heater and defroster - large size
Standard equipment to be described fully
Spotlight furnished by the City, to be installed
by the successful bidder
Dual sun visors
Back-up lights
Spare tire and wheel
Power brakes - shall be of heavy duty variety, having
the largest braking surface available.
Each bidder shall state the amount he will accept in cash for the
purchase of the three vehicles specified above, and also the amount of
such purchase price to be allowed by accepting as trade-in the following:

The City of Paducah reserves the right to remove the radios, flashing
lights, sirens and any regulation police equipment from the trade-in

vehicles before they are released to the successful bidder.
Each bidder shall state in his bid the popular name and model
upon which he bids, and if requested, will exhibit at the City Hall to
the City Officials a similar car of the model bid upon with the equipment
offered, and shall also state the approximate length of time required
for delivery after a contract is awarded.
SECTION 2. The City Manager shall advertise for sealed bids by
posting a notice at the City Hall door and by inserting notice of the .
request for bids in the Paducah Sun -Democrat to be published not less than
seven days nor more than twenty-one days before the date fixed for the
opening of bids. All bids shall be sealed and no bid shall be received
after the hour fixed in the notice for the opening of same. All bids
received by the City Manager up to the time fixed in the notice for the

opening of same/be filed with the Board of Commissioners who may
let a contract to the lowest and best bidder, and the Board of
Commissioners shall reserve the right to reject any and all bids and
the City shall not become legally obligated to any bidder until the
adoption of an ordinance authorizing the execution of a purchase contract.
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect
from and after its adoption.
