ORDINANCE NO. 70-5-322
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SUB -SECTIONS (a) AND (d) AND CREATING
SUB -SECTION (g) OF SECTION 2-21 "VACATION LEAVE GENERALLY" OF THE
COBE OF ORDINANCES CITY OF PADUCAH, KENTUCKY
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE CITY OF PADUCAH,
KENTUCKY:
SECTION 1. That sub -sections (a) and (d) of Section 2-21
"Vacation leave generally", be amended and reordained so that said
sections as amended and reordained shall hereafter read as follows:
"Sec. 2-21. Vacation leave generally.
(a) Each employee of the city regularly employed filling a
permanent position on a fullE-time basis after completing six months
of employment with the city shall be credited with vacation time from
the date of employment at the rate of one and one-fourth (lk) days
of vacation for each month of employment with the city, and all such
employees shall thereafter accrue vacation at the same rate and may
accumulate up to a maximum of twenty-one (21) days of vacation at any
one time. After obtaining vacation eligibility, an employee may take
vacation as may be reasonably scheduled with his department dead as
hereinafter set forth in sub -section (g), or in the case of a department
head, as may be scheduled with the city manager. A month in which a
salaried employee is paid for fifteen (15) days or more and a daily
or hourly wage employee is paid for twelve (12) days or more shall be
considered as a month of service.
"(d) Upon termination of employment, an employee shall be paid
for any unused accrued vacation leave not to exceed twenty-one (21)
working days, except that members of the fire department shall count
each scheduled working day as three (3) days.
SECTION 2. That Section 2-21 "Vacation leave generally" shall
be further amended and reordained to include the following sub -section:
"(g) Each department head shall prepare a schedule of vacations
for the entire year indicating how many employees may be gone from
work within the department at any one time, and requests for vacation
shall be applied for on a basis of seniority during the month of

January of each year. Accrued time not originally applied for may be
taken with the approval of the department head at any time."
SECTION 3. This ordinance amends an ordinance pertaining to
vacations originally adopted November 25, 1947, and subsequently
amended on January 11, 1949 and December 9, 1969.
SECTION 4. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect
from and after April 1, 1970.
